Warrios flung forward with his sword sticking out and pierced his opponent in the heart. Warrios won the fight!

"Luke, time for dinner." His mom shouted from the kitchen, so Luke logged off of his game, Medieval Tymes, promising himself he would come back after dinner. He ran out of his room, down the hall, and down the long staircase to the kitchen table and sat down just as his mom, wearing oven mitts, set a hot plate right in the center of the table.

"Yes! Lasagna, my favorite!" Luke filled his plate hurriedly, wishing he could play Medieval Tymes and eat lasagna both at the same time. Ravenously, he gobbled his lasagna. "Mom?" He asked, filling his glass with icy lemonade.
"Hm?" She replied, scrubbing the dishes left from that day’s breakfast.
"I’m going to go play Medieval Tymes. Bye!" Luke grabbed his drink and raced up the staircase, sloshing lemonade everywhere. He heard his mother groan, but was already signing in.

Luke got up and looked around. He was wearing armor. Iron armor. The same armor Warrios was wearing. He looked at the town and noticed that he was in his computer game! Luke didn’t know what to do. Solve this polynomial equation by factoring: 4x^3+7x^2-5x-6=0

1. (x – 1) * (x + 2) * (4x + 3); each root has a multiplicity of one as each occurs only once in the factorization

2. ( x + 3) * (x + 3) * (x – 2) * (x – 2); each root has a multiplicity of two as each occurs twice in the factorization

I got the answers the hard way, doing polynomial division until I had a remainder of 0. I started with x + 1 for each. Each one was fairly easy this way as I swiftly found roots. Doing it this way, use your remainders as indications about what to try next. In the 2nd one, using x for a divisor, you have R 36. Then using x + 1, you have R 36. That’s a great start as you know there will be at least one root as far "left" of 1/2 ([0 + 1]/2) as there is to the "right." Trying x + 2 gets you to R 16 so you know you’re close. And x + 3 gets you there. Then 5/2 (3 – 1/2) "left" is x – 2 and sure enough, that is a root as well. At this point, and after just one root for the 1st one, you have a quadratic and can quickly finish up.

Although I did it exactly like that, I don’t mean to give the impression I did it by hand. Long ago I wrote a spreadsheet that lets me do polynomial division for anything up to 10th degree polynomials. so it was just typing for the most part. But it IS the way I’d do it by hand if I had to do it by hand. Of course, any time you can speed it up by seeing patterns you remember or easy factors (like factoring "x" out of a polynomial that doesn’t have a numerical term) be sure to take advantage! Also, the numerical term usually limits things. If it is 3, the possible factors are likely to be 1 and 3. If 362,880, there are 8 prime factors and quite a few combinations of them…

But always seize shortcuts when available. You DO have other questions to work on!

Do snug piercings take a lot of looking after?

What do you do if you become ashamed of your own gender?
…Crap, I know I’m going to get some "have a sex change" responses. >.<

But it’s actually more or less a serious question. Lately I’ve been learning about the differences between the way men think and the way women think. I’ve learnt (well, already knew) that women naturally mature faster than men, that women are generally more realistic than men, that women are much more inclined to be peacemakers than men – who tend to be aggressive due to their level of testosterone. Women are simply more sensible than men, especially when you compare teenage girls to teenage guys.

Teenage guys are just about the most unsophisticated breed of human beings there is. Mischievous, obsessed with sex, unrealistic – it bothers me that I belong to what can astutely be described as a subspecies of only slightly intelligent baboons. And I fear that naturally I am bound by the very same flaws and tendencies that many immature guys have. But I know I am different – with many things, it feels as though I can relate more to the female perspective than the male perspective. I am a great multitasker, I’m typing all this as I’m listening to music and thinking about a great many things. Even as I do have normal sexual urges and I am naturally attracted to legs, my focus is far less on the sexual as it is on the emotional.

I am not immature; in fact, I think in certain ways I am mature for a sixteen year old. I doubt I am preternaturally mature or anything, but I’m certainly above the average. I don’t make a complete fool of myself just because I think I’m funny. I know the world doesn’t revolve around me. I have some level of self discipline, and of self respect. I don’t act like I’m two years old.

I’m abashed of my sexual urges. I have been attempting to consciously control myself from checking out a girl’s breasts (which I’m not really attracted to anyways, by the way), legs, buttocks, or sometimes even looking at them in their entirety – I’m going to notice when they get their hair done, or when they are wearing a dress, or anything like that. I’m going to appreciate them as beautiful – not hot. Don’t get me wrong, I do fantasize about girls, but never in a particularly sexual light. Though I do feel sexual attraction just as anybody does, I am turned on more by personality than by physical appearance. I dream of flattering a beautiful girl with compliments, swooning her with love poems, giving her bouquets of flowers for special occasions (sometimes as a surprise!), cuddling up to her at night time, and most importantly of all, being her closest and most loyal friend, and she’ll never have to feel like she needs to be anything more for me to love her.

When I think about it, though, I feel as though I’m attempting to become something I’m not. I don’t pay any attention to how I’m received by guys; only girls. And I’m hyper sensitive to rejection, I analyze comments that are merely ambiguous as rejection (for example, if I perceive that you’re talking to me unenthusiastically or you don’t reply to all of messages – though I don’t have a habit of sending too many – I think you don’t like me and want me to go away). Is the fact that I feel more effeminate than other guys something to be proud of? What are some good things about teenage guys that I should be proud of?

You sound like me [I'm a guy], and how I’ve been pretty much my entire life [once adolescence started]. I’m in my early twenties, I’ve dealt with this train of thought for a while now and have come to what I believe the firmest ground I’ve ever been on.

Okay, to be perfectly frank, here’s the thing:
DO NOT give in to self-hate, or pretentious thoughts as if you are intrinsically and naturally better than other men [boys]. And most of all: LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

I consider myself an extreme feminist- one who believes in the equality of the genders, and against culturally-assigned gender roles. I came to that though, because I have always felt how you say you feel. For many years I dealt with the fact that I didn’t mesh with how other "guys" felt and acted, and I always connected better with girls than the average guy. Though it made me horribly self-conscious, it also made me feel inwardly SUPERIOR to other guys. While it’s easy to think that, do your best not to. Nobody ever should think they’re naturally better than another person. But also, don’t give into the thought that men and women are "biologically" different [more open/observant/emotional/stupid, etc]. That’s an easy thing to get caught up in, but it actually makes you much more closed minded, since you’ll find as you grow up that there are plenty of men just like you, and confining the emotions and minds of people to gender roles is just as bad as thinking that Men are "better" than Women.

Yes, it’s okay to feel all these ways, and yes, it’s okay to feel somewhat "special" because you’re able to see both sides of the veil we call "gender roles". But don’t let it make you feel bad about yourself, OR other men/boys. But rather, use WHO YOU ARE to live what you preach, and also to just be yourself, and live happily, without worrying about the roles. You’ll find that as you live your life, you just have to find your niche of people you like, enjoy, and mesh well with [in both friendships, and romantic relationships]. You’re never bound to just being an outcast because of how you are. It’s just a process

Also, one thing about High School: It’s different than the rest of the world. Once you leave there, not only will other men mature, but the entire species will seem both more intelligent, AND more understanding and open. PLEASE do not let the fact that you’re in the high school environment and see these boys skew your view of all Men, or humans. It’s a small percentage and cannot shape your worldview. [plus, adolescence is an awkward phase for everyone, in both body AND MIND... all those guys are probably dealing with their own insecurities, too, trust me].

But mostly, don’t let your own identity [everything you stated up there] force you to worry about gender roles or anything. Once you experience people, and come into your own self, you’ll see we’re all just people, and culture and society shape us all in many ways, whether it be stereotypical "manliness" or "woman-like"ness. But in the end we’re all our own people. So I urge you as a friend to stay open to all people, regardless of gender, and at the same time EMBRACE who you are, without letting it mitigate how you live; let it help you FLOURISH… I know it’s sure helped me and my life.

Teenage boys are bound to be like that. And teenage girls just as messed up. There are very many boys that are quite similar to you. I was the same when I was younger. The reason all the boys seem to be that way is because they are easier to notice. Most people don’t notice the guy sitting in the back, not saying a word. Everyone notices the kid who acts crazy to get attention. Eventually you will see that men are not the only ones with problems. Over the years young women have become more and more self centered and insane.

I remember songs which extolled men as lustful cavemen, getting angry, being disloyal. In your adulthood, you will find women drawn to you. And you might need that, since you are probably not aggressively trying to get all of their phone numbers. A lot of women still expect men to make first moves and chase them.

No, you don’t need an operation. You are bi-hemisphered, a nice balance of male and female impulses. Sensitivity and empathy are GOOD things. At 16, you will mature, you will change some, but you need not be ashamed of yourself, nor of men in general. It’s like motorcycles. They aren’t all noisy, but you don’t HEAR the quiet ones.

It’s good you’re reflecting on your own thoughts, and even better that you’re asking questions. And to argue against your question let me state:

1. When we speak of genders, and the ideas associated with them, we’re speaking of social constructions that are exclusive. And a particular perspective will exclude other perspectives. We have to be skeptical when we talk about gender and sexuality, there is power in shaping beliefs and submission in adhering to them.

2. Much of our social-world shapes our private world, just as much of our private-world shapes our social world. In other words: our beliefs can effect our biology as much as our biology can effect our beliefs.

So, are you ashamed of your gender, or are you ashamed by the beliefs you PUT to a gender?

If you’re really hung-up on this gender thing I can recommend: "Sexuality and Gender in Society" by Paul Root Wolpe (little dated but still useful). He also has a lecture series on disc from The Teaching Company entitled "Sociology of Sexuality" (hard to find but worth it).

Ideas for Smackdown Vs Raw 2011?
Just incase THQ come across this
Give me your opinions too.

1- GM Mode!!!!!!! from what i hear everyone wants it back..
2- Create An Arena
3- Free roaming in Road to Wrestlemania (Just so you can start rivalries and interupt matches just like the show)
4- You can make your opponent bleed and give up in GM Mode so why not be able to break their bones and put them out of action lol
5 – More than 10 divas… theres not many of them so why cant we have all of them
6 – More Roads to Wreslemania cos i finished them in 2 days lol. (If not straight away as free DLC…Career Mode Sucks)
7 – More multiple choices in Road to WM. So it can end up differently.
8 – Create a Submission, Behind Finisher & Corner Finisher
9 – Create your own match type. (I want to be able to stack cages with ladders to climb up through them.
10 – DLC being free except legends (Including graphic updates & etc)
11- Punjabi Prison
12 – Create a story being more your own story… like being able to select the weapons they bring out and the color of the car hitting them, if they are knocked out on the floor or up against a wall and etc.
13 – Fan fight area which leads backstage.
14- Patterns!! why are they even gone?
15 – In GM Mode being able to book what city you go to by looking at fan ratings… for more control.
16 – Be able to put ladders and table in more spots (against baracades, ropes, being able to stack a table on top of two ladders and etc.
17 – When creating a finisher being able to select how much damage it does and to what parts (according to your grappling stat)
18 – Rookies in GM mode… looks and moves all randomly chosen but able to be edited. and modern day superstars can retire and become legends etc.
19 – Different RAW/SMACKDOWN arenas for big cities like australia nz and japan and all the big places.
20 – Able to creat superstarts shorter skinnier taller and fatter haaha!

Here’s my opinion on yours:
#1 – Create a Storyline is more fun than GM Mode, so I personally wouldn’t care if it didn’t return
#2 – YES!!
#3 – That might be kind of fun to do. Albeit a bit tricky for the game-makers to put in.
#4 – As previously stated, you COULD injure them in GM Mode, just it didn’t show it until after the match.
#5 – Personally, I think the WWE Divas mostly suck, except for a few. But maybe a few more might be nice.
#6 – Maybe a couple more would be doable, but they do write very good storylines for RtWM
#7 – That might also be a bit tricky for them to program in. But if its doable, I’d love to see that too
#8 – Again YES!! They only have standing finishers and top-rope finishers so far, right? Seeing other kinds would be nice
#9 – Once again, YES! I have lots of custom match type ideas I’d love to do. But it’d also be very tricky to program, I’m sure
#10 – Frankly, I wouldn’t care about that. Since so far, I’ve only gotten the PS2 versions of all the SvR games.
#11 – I heard rumors it was supposed to be in 2010 but it seems it wasn’t. Maybe in 2011.
#12 – That might be kinda cool, too. But again, tough to code.
#13 – That’d be cool
#14 – I personally never used the patterns, that much
#15 – I don’t see what difference the city makes
#16 – I’ve been hoping for that for a while, now. All you can do is stand them up, or lean them agains the turnbuckles
#17 – That might make CAF a bit tricky to ues, for the player.
#18 – Doesn’t seem like it’d have much appeal
#19 – Might be cool
#20 – I think that part is already fine, as it is.

And here are some of my own ideas:
Again, I love the create-an-arena idea, create-a-match-type, and different positions for CAF. Here’s stuff I’d like to see, myself:
1 – Matches where you can use more than just 6 wrestlers at a time (8-man tags, battle royals, 8 in the ring at once in the Rumble). Though this might make the game a bit slow due to more wrestlers in the match at once.
2 – More CAW slots. Being a PS2-player of this game, we still only get 30 slots. I heard Xbox and PS3 get 50, but still, more for those who can’t get the 360 or PS3 would be nice. Even just 35. It used to be 32 or so, a while back, but they took some out for some reason.
3 – Divas used in more match types. I heard in 2010 you can use them in some more match types like steel cage, but I think it’d be fun to include them in even more. Like the Royal Rumble. XD (If you CAN use them in that, ignore this one.). Also, diva blood and maybe a Diva RtWM
4 – Bring back create-a-championship!
5 – More and better stuff to use for CAWs
6 – More entrances (more entrance moves and maybe an entrance for 4 people in a team)
7 – More customizable call names for CAWs

Thats all I can think of right now.

I would really like to echo your #3…Ever since smackdown on ps1 (whatever was the first one yuke’s did) I always thought it would be cool if you were given a schedule with your fight time on it. Lets just say its 9:30pm, before and after that time you are free to roam about the backstage area, talk to people maybe set up alliances or whatever. And have the option to go into the ring at any time and interfere with a match or whatever you feel like. When its time for your match you head to the backstage area and control your wrestler as they walk out, high fiving the crowd, doing whatever you wanna do. Obviously they would have to set up a control scheme for that but they could do it.

4. Make it more like a real wrestling match where you have to wear down your opponent with smaller moves before you can successfully hit a big move like a powerbomb or chokeslam.

7. Rework the Buried Alive match so it’s a real buried alive match and not a glorified casket match

I love/hate seeing these posts…

Love them because I like to see the ideas, then hate them because a lot of the ideas are implausible via coding or because they’re just things that they, understandably, won’t do. So first I’ll go down your list…

1. GM Mode was removed two years ago, because people kept complaining about the fairness of the mode, and basically wanted to run their own show. They remedied this with the new Story Designer… and though it’s gotten rave reviews, we still have people wanting GM Mode to return. It’s like people want a mode that requires no patience… and that is tough to program.

2. Something that isn’t truly plausible. Do you know how long it takes them to create an arena? What do you want? Just a blank canvas you can draw on with a bunch of patterns to put on the walls? This would take YEARS to come up with just a basic form that is comprable to the ones in game.

3. The free roam idea was sorta worked on in XBox’s Raw 2. It didn’t work too well, and though it felt like you were making your own stories… people want full voice over… free roaming would make that impossible.

4. You COULD get injuries in GM mode which put them out for months on end. If they bring GM mode back, it’d still be there.

5. Everyone wants the "whole roster." It will never truly happen… only two games pulled off having the "whole roster" WWE Wrestlemania 2000 and Raw 2… both wasted so much time in doing so, that they failed in many many other aspects of the game.

6. Understandable. I, too, wouldn’t mind RTWM as DLC… but asking them to work for free isn’t fair. How would you like to work for hours on end for free?

7. Branching storylines are very hard to pull off. I can see them putting in three endings for each, but not much more before it starts eating away at the actual gameplay.

8. They’re working on this. I doubt there will be all three in the next… but my guess is the next set will be "behind" finishers.

9. Doubt this will EVER happen. Just having a bunch of checkmarks for weapons and such isn’t how a company puts together a match. You have to figure out how the match is supposed to really END on top of it… Also, they want the game to be realistic… having an "Inferno Hell In A Cell with Ladders" would be counteracting all the rules of each match. The cell would stop the ladder match from working. The inferno would stop you from leaving the ring. Etc.

10. Will never happen. There is a HUGE difference between getting a "new map pack" in a FPS for free, and brand new wrestlers and storylines for free. A map pack doesn’t take TOO much work as there is no new programming needed. No new collision detection. No new voice-over. No new licensing of music. All of this, however, is needed in all the new DLC in a wrestling game… meaning someone has to pay for it. That someone is US. Get it through your head, free stuff only happens if the stuff can be made for next to nothing.

11. This match is silly. A specialty match for The Great Khali, and the Great Khali wasn’t even in the match. It was a complicated MESS in production in the WWE, and will probably never be used again, for that matter. My Match ideas are below.

12. This is partially possible, so I will let it slide.

13. The fan fight area happened before. And I, too, would like to at least have a backstage hall in Falls Count Anywhere matches.

14. I agree. Bring them back. I couldn’t make my friend’s plaid shorts.

15. I agree, again. Good show.

16. I agree one more time! I do believe that we should have the ladder position of "ring to barricade" as has been used on more than one occasion. I would also like to see a "next to the ring" spot for tables.

17. The body part that gets damaged already makes sense (most of the time) so that’s ok. Changing the amount of damage would just be unfair. Hence why they removed the "spam damage" from adding in eight kicks to the gut beforehand.

18. I like this, but I don’t… it would have to be fleshed out before it is implemented… especially with the amount of dumb crap that is in the CAW. Randomly generated could lead to some seriously stupid looking outfits.

19. They’re already working on 16+ arenas a game. Give them a break.

20. I agree. I also think that the "waist" category should not be attributed to "BUTT." It’s hard to make a fat guy, because they always get a badunkadunk butt, and frankly, men’s butts never get that huge. EVER.

MY IDEAS?:

Match Additions: Special Ref, I Quit, Casket, Buried Alive.
Reworked Matches: Add weapons to Hell In A Cell, add more hot spots to Cage/Ladder/Table
More Story Designer Animations: Finisher Interaction, More Championship carrying.
Rework Tag and Trio Entrances: Just more basic ones, because everyone’s entrances look the same… maybe even allow some editing like in Legends of Wrestlemania?

And I would love to see SD vs. Raw 2011 similar to that Raw game for the Xbox, where during one whole show you can call someone out, like a champion or something and attack people and basically do whatever you want during one whole show.
