HELP! Outback steakhouse robbed me what do i do!!?
I went to dinner with friends to outback on Friday 1/29 and charged $25 to my debit card. Everyone else except me paid cash and I took home the total reciept and my own debit reciept and left a cash tip. The total bill was $91.26. So i check my acount balance on my phone the next day and realize they charged me the $66.26… so on sunday i go to the restaurant and politely tell the manager what happened. she told me it will be refunded to my account monday since the bank is closed sunday. now its wednesday and i have a completed transaction of $25 from them and also a pending transaction of $66.26 so now the whole bill is on my card. the pending date keeps changing everyday also and i just want it refunded because i have bills to pay ad $66 isnt a lot to everyone but it really is to me. And since its pending i cannot spend that money and i told the mananger that she was like i understand here is an appetizer coupon for this inconvienience. but now i have to drive back which is far from my house and sort this matter out again and im furious…….. i just dont know what to say and feel like im not getting justified like they do this all the time. advice on what to say when i go in today??
it sounds to me like its already out of the restaurants hands. try to call your bank and ask them about it. also if you feel like the restaurant is not turning your bad experience into a good one, call them and ask to speak to the general manager. as long as you keep your cool, they will probably do whatever is in their power to make you happy. at the restaurant i work at they would take down your address and mail you a gift certificate for a free meal. it wont make up for the mix up, and you not being able to use the money you need, but its a nice gesture. good luck!

Hope you learned a lesson.
1. Cash is king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use your debit card at your bank’s atm only! Then pay cash!
or
2. Use a credit card. Watch what you spend and then pay it off at the end of the month. This way you have a record of your purchases, earned points or miles on your card, kept a good credit rating, and most importantly, none of the retailers have your presonal bank information like they do if you use a debit card.

See if it’s possible for the restaurant to just cancel the electronic refund transaction and hand you the cash for the incorrectly billed amount. I would have demanded this from the start, as it nearly always takes days and days for funds to be electronically refunded, whether to a debit or credit account.
Ask to see the General Manager, then as for their manager’s name. Then call that person and ask for THEIR manager’s name. Trust me, they all have a manager, and eventually you will get to someone who will want to resolve the issue for you. Keep making a stink.

Don’t go out to eat at very expensive places unless you have the cash in hand. Learna budgeting lesson
from this, chalk
it up to experience.
