Wrong! You should have asked: What is the BEST movie that the Academy screwed up on and Didn’t give the award to for Best Picture?
How about naming the movie that most film critics around the world consider the greatest motion picture ever made: CITIZEN KANE.
The Academy of Motion Pictures sucks the worst. They have passed up/missed some of the greatest films ever made – and baby, the game is called Studio Politics. It’s true, it exists, and you’d be amazed at the crap the unions & guilds pulled INSIDE of the Academy. The major studios coerced the Academy members who worked for them to vote ONLY Fox movies, or MGM films, etc. Zanuck & Mayer and the others would actually tell their employees Exactly which one of their films to vote for, and which ones to ‘forget about’.
And don’t even get me started on how the Academy had ‘inside rules’ AGAINST voting for any non-union film!
For example, the Art Directors branch at the Academy rigged things so no person could win an Oscar if they weren’t already a member of the art directors union. Try and guess the great films that went ignored/unrewarded, simply because they were independently produced movies.
The Academy of Motion Pictures is a shameful organization. Much of the voting was rigged, forced, or coerced. And this can be shown by verifiable fact. Not opinion – fact.
