Do I have OCD, given a list of 'symptoms'?
A little about why I ask this question:
I can’t stand touching things which may have been touched by someone ‘dirty’, for example, putting my jumper over my hand to open toilet doors and touch locks.
Wiping the toilet seat (probably a good habit anyway), even in my own home.
I recently decided that phoneboxes are physically disgusting.
I constantly analyse my relationships with my close friends.
I question my sexuality occasionally.
I fear that being close friends with a younger child might be misunderstood (I’m 16), even though there’s nothing wrong with it.
I analyse my own actions and behaviours.
I make sure things are NOT particularly neat and symmetrical, but everything should be categorised, I don’t like the current layout of my bookshelf because I can’t fit all of one series in the same row, but I don’t really mind that too much.
I count things, like syllables in words and what people say, which can be annoying when I’m meant to be listening to the rest.
I believe that what I do has a direct effect on Liverpool’s results, by this I mean sitting in the wrong place, doing ‘bad’ things on matchday.
I have a lucky number, but if I think of this number when looking at something that isn’t ABSOLUTELY fantastic, I almost feel ashamed and think of a different number.
Regarding my last point, I’m extremely embarrassed about this, but I ‘think’ of a number by hitting my teeth against each other from right to left a number of times.
If Liverpool play away, I use right things more often, at home, left (because of the order that the teams are mentioned on the scoreboard).
I feel like I offend someone and bring bad luck if I bite my nails.
I feel like my thoughts can damage other people, and I sometimes have random, very disturbing thoughts which I’d rather not go into detail about.
I raise my eyebrows three times at things I agree with (wtf?).
That’s most of it, am I OCD, what type, and what can I do?
Being overly clear can be a symptom of OCD, but the whole thing about questioning your sexuality is nothing more than being a teenager, EVERYONE thinks about it at that age, don’t worry about it. Analyzing your own behavior is normal too, people want to understand why they do the things they do. As for counting syllables and the latter things mentioned, they are compulsions. You like patterns. You seem to have some sort of OCD, but there are different levels. You aren’t crippled by OCD, so there is no absolute need to do anything. But if you want to fix it, see a therapist. There are cognitive behavioral therapies that are designed to help people with compulsive symptoms.
As for what type of OCD? There aren’t exactly types. There are people who only care about germs, which is a sub-branch, but you have a more general OCD, treatable in many ways.

A man who questions his own sanity, is sane.
Just chill out man and go on a vacation and get your mind off of things for a while ![]()

It does sound like ocd the type might be checking me and my bf have it although his is worse than mine and he’s extremely anal and everything has to be a certain way. mine is tied into anxiety but its controllable.

are your actions repetitive?are you compelled to do them (compulsive part)? do you have control over these actions? can you not raise your eyebrows 3 times when you agree and not wipe the toilet seat? if NOT then you might have ocd but i’m not a professional so i suggest you tell your doctor or see a therapist. medication is available and it can be treated. often there is a fear behind these actions e.g the germs. you wipe the toilet seat, dont touch door handles. look at it logically why do you fear germs,..? i’m sure touching the door handle or not wiping the toilet seat in your home isn’t going to cause a major infection that will kill you. so try and confront your fears slowly. i know this easy for me to say
as for friends analyzing your relationships is okay but bare in mind that people are not perfect, so don’t be surprised if your relationships are not perfect. its normal.
