IMDB rating: 5.60 Plot: Amy is an architect who works for perfection. She takes a vacation at a small town health spa where she meets Virgil, a blind masseur. She falls in love with him for the senses he loves that she takes for granted. They listen to the rain, they make love, and then she does research on restoring sight he hasn’t had since he was one year old. He joins her in New York and undergoes the treatment only to find that seeing doesn’t mean comprehending what one sees. The difficult road to understanding the visual world tests their relationship. The strain is taken to the limits when Virgil begins to lose his sight once again. |

Help with huge spanish project?
O.K., before you start judging, there is no way I could be asking for you to be doing my homework for me. Yes, I’ve seen annoying people do it before on here, but this is totally different. I have this huge Honors project that I’ve been working on for Spanish 1. There is NO WAY someone could do this for me. It’s just too huge!
I’ve been doing a lot of research on it. The project is basically this: you’re traveling to a spanish-speaking country and explaining your time there. You tell of the weather, food, hotel you’re staying at, etc. Those topics are done for me as of now, but I’m having more problems with the sights I will suposedly see there.
My country is Spain. My first day I will go to Madrid, second day Valencia, third Balencia. (Not sure about the spelling on those last two.) If you can think of any things to do there or find anything, please post the link or tell me about it!
Everything is appreciated. Except for negative comments. . . which seem to be just about everywhere!
To start with, you go to a travel site.
Search the names of the cities you’re going to…and, btw…Valencia is pronounced Balencia…same place.
And it’s kinda far from Madrid. Not GENERALLY the best second place to go. And it wouln’t be "Day 2". Don’t you want to stop somewhere in between? Valencia isn’t one of the biggest tourist draws, either.
Kay. I would NEVER do your work for you…but I’ll give you a couple of tips.
First, the two biggest cities are Madrid and Barcelona, with Sevilla being the next most popular for tourism, and Granada after that.
Pick up a map of the country, and see if there aren’t a few other interesting cities nearby, where you might day trip to. You need to decide how long you have for your trip, too.
Don’t bother renting a car…I loved this! I had to do this in a college class, once, and one of the groups rented a car in a city where there is no parking! They DROVE five blocks! from their hotel to the monument! There is no parking between them! I could barely keep polite! Don’t bother! People in Spain, in all of Europe, use public transportation and their feet.
Sites: Sispain.org, gospain.org, madridman.com, sevilla5.com (should you decide to use my fave city) And search cities by name. They all have websites. They have pages in Wikipedia. They generally list the monuments/museums/sites in order of importance and popularity.
Food! You have to eat Paella, have coffee and pastries, and go out for tapas at least once. Most people will try to go to a flamenco show and a bullfight, but bullfights are only in the summer, and only on Sundays and feast days. You won’t find one on just any Wednesday, for example.
Tapas are NOT special foods. They are small plates of the same foods that are offered in larger plates at a restaurant/bar. Ham and Manchego cheese are hugely popular! A typical lunch at a restaurant consists of a soup/rice/pasta dish; a meat and potatoes dish and a drink…soda is generally more expensive than wine or beer. It’s called a Menu del dia.

Your project was set for you to explore the Internet or better still read some books. If I tell you everything I know, you will learn absolutely nothing. If you are learning nothing, then there is no point proceeding. This may in your opinion be a negative comment, but pointing you in the right direction is actually a positive comment.
I came to live in Spain to enjoy the country. I travel quite a bit to enjoy the place, but I know nothing about a place until I read a book before I go. That way I can learn a little to enjoy my trip and what to look for.

First check on the cities. Balencia does not exist. There is a Palencia but I doubt that will be the one you want. Ask the teacher/lecturer.
http://sispain.org/ should give all the links you need.
also look at http://www.timeout.com/ for tourist Madrid and Barcelona.
I see nothing wrong with giving you some websites I use and that you may not be directed to in the States. Just think of me as another search engine.
