well i dont remember what version exactly i know that i read in a magizine that when google comes out with the google chrome os then microsoft has a release date for an opensource program near it idk if its an update of singularity or what
What’s this reference to Microsoft’s Open Source OS? Might you be talking about Barrelfish? Even if they do release it Open Source, it’ll suck considering that they still have to sell Windows.
OpenSolaris is only good on SPARC systems, otherwise, Linux blows it out of the water.
Google Chrome OS and Ubuntu are both based on Linux. They’re for completely different purposes. Ubuntu is meant as a regular desktop OS and a replacement to Windows/OS X. Chrome OS is a solution for netbooks, or Android’s big brother.
That said, I’m typing this from Ubuntu, making Ubuntu the clear winner.
