600fps with 7.9gr pellets = 6.3fpe
The 760 is a smooth bore, accuracy will be a big problem, since you need to make head shots to take small game with your air rifle.
It takes a minimum of 5.0fpe at impact with a head shot to make a clean, humane kill on a rabbit, 3.0fpe for squirrel, starling or pigeon, 2.0fpe for sparrow or mouse
Your 760 has enough power to take a rabbit at 10 yards and squirrel at 15-20, the question is, can you make the shot.

Only at extremely close range should you attempt to take an animal with a Crossman 760. While they are capable of a humane kill from a relatively close distance their accuracy and power prevent them from being a good choice beyond 20 yards, maybe slightly farther in well-trained hands.
I would recommend a more powerful air rifle for hunting. There are many excellent choices available from many manufacturers. These are available from .177 caliber to .50 caliber, depending on what you ultimately want to hunt. For the animals you list a good .177 or .22 would suffice. There are also different choices for power supply; springers, CO@, multi-pump pneumatic and pcp (pre-charged pneumatic) in a wide variety of power levels. Look for something that shoots at least 1000 ft/ second in .177 or 850 ft/second in .22 caliber. These will produce enough ft. lbs. of energy to make a humane kill at 75- 100 yards or beyond, depending on your skill level.
