i just joined the army and am 17. when do they drug test you? don’t go callin me a druggie cuz i only smoked a couple times in my life. i heard that once your papers are signed you get shipped to salt lake to get meps and shipped back and then you wait until you graduate and go to boot camp. I also heard that you don’t get tested until your ready to go off to war like after you graduate school and head out to camp. What is the real deal??
if its different for states or something i live in las vegas

Honestly, you can get tested anytime. Stop smoking. If you haven’t smoked in a while, don’t worry about.

they drug test you once you get to meps. and you dont sign until you’re at meps. you go to meps then you sit around in DEP until you leave for basic. tip of the day: just dont smoke anymore. if you did it in the past its okay just dont do it anymore. they wont know the difference at meps.

You can expect to get tested before you leave your recruiters office on the way to MEPS, on the second day of MEPS, sporadically at RSP (NG only), then again at MEPS before you ship. I can’t remember if they test you in Basic, but you can expect at least one test while at AIT. Basically, you get tested a lot. So unless you’re buddy buddy with the folks who administer the tests, it’s probably best to just not use any drugs from the time you sign your enlistment contract to the time you PCS out of the Army.
