Another poem I wrote?
So this is a completely different type of poetry for me. My topic is usually relationships.
I wrote this in about a good 45 mins, It was due for english class, the teacher asked for a free-verse I decided to write it in my normal style. It’s really two poems. The first is from a German Soldiers point of view. The second is of a German Civilian
Fall of Germany
"They came in numbers,
much more than ours.
Defenses began to falter after awhile,
no more did the people smile.
We soldiers were bravem
and we were strong.
But the siege was just too long
And the city would soon be our grave.
While our actions were wrong,
our will and drive are true.
No one can save us now, we are doomed.
But we’ll fight harder than anyone you ever knew.
Despite our Honour, Strength, and Bravery,
we’ve done the unforgiveable; so much wrong.
Murder, Persecution, and thievery…..
We said nothing, though we knew it was wrong.
Now Karma has her revenge,
As we stand and defend the heart of our country.
Viciously fighting a battle we know we cannot win.
Now our enemies surround us and slowly move in
For us there is no surrender,
we have gone too far, done so much wrong.
Every soldier will fight to the last breath,
Struggling to preserve our precious Reich."
Berlin Aftermath
I walked outside struck with awe,
As I slowly took a look around.
Horror and tragedy are all that I saw,
Scars of war on the street and ground.
Finally the tides have turned,
Now we were the ones being invaded.
The outer cities have already been evacuated,
For soon they will all be stripped, ravaged, and burned.
Our enemies are war-mongers filled with rage,
to us they will show no mercy,
For we have shown none to them.
This marks the end for the German Age.
Our defenses have all fallen,
the horrors have been brought to our land.
Berlin is now in chaos, controlled by her enemies,
In cold-blood they perform the unforgivables upon us.
Our Reich is gone,
we are left shattered and broken.
We started a war we had no hope to win.
Our lust to conquer countries was our downfall, for now we own none.
I understand it could be better with more effort…but I want to see what you think.
ummm…ok….
umm… "guten nacht"… "ich bin mein [assignment]"
… free verse is me as a civilian, if i’m in the mood?
something like a notch in History’s belt.
The past most certainly does, but some truth doesn’t equally melt away.
dang! this is a dandy of a thought… some soldiers are as young as the past is rude.
