What are my chances of getting into UF,FSU,UCF and USF?
Hi! I am an IB junior in Florida and would like to know what my chances are of getting into
UF,UCF,FSU,and USF.

I have been in the IB program for three years now and I am planning to complete it and receive my IB diploma next year.

I have taken mostly AP/Pre-IB/IB courses:

9th Grade:
Pre-IB English Honors
Pre-IB Biology Hon. and Pre-IB Earth Space Science Hon.
Economics Honors
American Government Honors
Geometry Honors
Health Science I Honors
French II Honors

10th Grade:
Pre-IB Physics Hon. and Pre-IB Chemistry Hon.
AP World History
Health Science II
Algebra II Honors
Anatomy and Physiology Honors
French III Honors

11th Grade:
AP Biology
AP Literature
AP U.S History
Creative Photography
IB Theory of Knowledge
IB Math Analysis
AP French
AP Psychology

I have a 3.2 WEIGHTED GPA. Also, during my sophomore year I went to out of country for two weeks,so my 4th nine weeks grades were pretty mediocre.I got a 1610 on my SAT,but I plan on taking the SAT again in May and also taking my ACT in April.

I currently involved in HOSA(Treasurer),Key Club,International Connections Club(Officer),French Club,Epicurian Club, and also take part in a dance group that performs monthly at our city hospital. In addition to this,I also co-founded a Haiti relief fund with two of my friends and we managed to raise over 2,000 dollars (which was a great success for us). I have about 100 community service hours completed so far,and am planning to get more this summer and next year. Also,I plan on being in the Pre-Med program at the college I get accepted to,and eventually wish to be a pediatrician.

Thanks for your time!

Your GPA is fairly low. You cannot hide it by just indicating your weighted GPA . Most colleges emphasize the unweighted GPA but do recognize IB, honors and AP classes in other ways.

Use the site below, enter each school individually and compare yourself to the profile of enrolled freshmen./

Why do short men have it so rough in the world?
I don’t understand it. Short men have it harder in everything and have to prove themselves just for basic respect. I’m talking about the 5′6” and below range. Heightism is one of the last few areas of prejudice left in the world. And I’m not only talking about dating, but the business world. Short men hit a glass ceiling when trying to reach the top just because of their height. They have it tougher during interviews – if two people of exact same experience and everything are interviewed, the taller person always wins. Not only that, if the shorter person is slightly better, they can even lose. This affects our society’s optimal functioning. It’s a bit sad.

I myself am short. And I’m sure that just because of this rant, some people are already thinking "this man has short man’s syndrome" even though everything I brought up is fact so far.

Then, there’s dating. I think I’m just mad because of yesterday night. Normally, I never go clubbing because I have horrific results. No one wants to dance with me or anything. I thought that this time would’ve been different. I approached around 20 girls at the club, and no one said yes or even expressed interest. I’m not talking about numbers here, I’m just talking about a dance. After approaching around 15-16 shorter girls, I tried to approach a taller girl, which was the worst move ever. It’s okay to say no to a person, but what the heck? The way she went about saying no was just so humiliating. She kept calling me ‘little man’ and said ‘I don’t dance with midgets.’ What the hell? I have a heart too. I’m there to also have fun, why can’t you be nicer about saying no? Is it just because I’m shorter than you? Imagine if a taller guy than you said that to you if you asked him! How much would that hurt? I hate it that women feel so empowered by their position in the dating realm that they’re so heartless to men that approach them.

Anyway, I guess the night didn’t end horrible since I did get laid but that’s because I left the club and just called a girl from my class to see what she was up to.

Should I give the club another chance? Or should short men stick to classrooms and workplaces since they can exhibit their personality more there.
By the way, I’m 5′2”
One of the questions someone asked me:
WOULD YOU DATE A 6′1 GIRL??

Yes, actually, I would. I would date a girl of any height that had a good personality. I just can’t do obese because its something they have complete control over.

 some girls preferr shorter men!!
Maybe you should stop trying to score ass with cheap shallow floozies in the club scene–same advice I’d give to a fat person asking this question. If shallow people don’t find your body type good looking, then look for non shallow people!

i dated a short guy and he seemed to make it harder on himself. i had no problem with it until he started having the short man syndrome characteristics. he wasnt secure with himself, causing the end of our relationship. so yeah.

THE SAME REASON Y GUYS DONT DATE TALL GIRLS IS THE SAME REASON Y GIRLS DONT DATE SHORT GUYS

ITS AKWARD

IF HE IS SHORTER THAN ME I DONT DO IT =)
dodgerslover87 | Feb 04, 2010

Uh, I do not think the work place would have any reason to discriminate against someone based on their height. I feel like if this was the case, there would be more examples of it? If you are basing it only on your personal experience then it probably rather biased, and you may have not been as qualified as you thought..

Maybe it is not your height that girls are turning you away, it may your personality. You seem very insecure about your height and I am sure it reflects when you talk to a girl. I also would not base never going to a club based on one night of experience, that is bonkers.

Congrats on the lay? HAhahahaha.. Actually reading everything you wrote, I am sure it is not your height that is the issue at all, it is definitely your personality. I would work on it, stop blaming all your problems on your height..
Casey | Feb 04, 2010

lol well I feel your pain. Even though I am not a male, I am only 4foot 9. I think you’re looking for girls in the wrong places. Bars aren’t good places to pick someone up.ever. and the second thing, I want a taller guy so I feel protected. Maybe if you took boxing classes or some kind of fight class, then got that out in one of the first few lines of talking to a girl, she would give you a chance.
I don’t feel empowered by my ‘position in the dating realm’ and am not heartless to men. Everyone has their negative experiences. I think this is another reason you’re having a hard time. Some people are rude people, they are not rude because they are a woman or a man. Maybe..if you met a girl in a classroom then took her clubbing, you’d have better results.
Julie Annabella | Feb 04, 2010

Platforms maybe? Well the club is not a place to meet your soulmate. Maybe try local coffee shop, grocery or laundromat. Go to events that interest you, plays, shows….
Some women like shorter guys, some big girls like little guys. Maybe you need to up your game since you think your being rejected due to your height. I’m sure you’ll meet a great woman when it’s time.
MissT | Feb 04, 2010

sorry, I don’t think that short men have it harder in the world. my husband is shorter than me. He is also one of the most popular guys around was one of the most popular guys w/ women got into all the clubs all the time bc every one knew him. He is always the first to get a job as well. It isn’t bc of his height it is bc he is an amazing person. If you keep letting this get you down then you will make it be true bc you expect it. also, just to say about the dating a short guy thing he is the best in bed I have ever had (he isn’t short everywhere!)just my opinion don’t use it as an excuse let your personality shine and no one will even notice. If you are self conscious about it then it will show and make ppl notice
hey… napoleon… relax… what are you trippin’ out over some skeezy club rat for?… she said those mean things b/c her life is shyt… people who are nice to other people for no reason at all are people who are happy in their own lives and comfortable in their own skin… surely there were 100 things you could have said to her when she dissed you like that… why didn’t you take the opportunity to say something like "well i bet my friends that i could take the Hep-C challenge and live and we figured you to be the most likely host"… The clubs are lame!… You should only go back until you run into her again to tell that wench "I JUST ASKED YOU TO DANCE, NOT FOR YOUR HAND IN MARRIAGE…. CLIP YOUR STRING AND PISS OFF!"….

Second, short people are not oppressed… And even if you were, at least you can can fit into all of the nice trendy clothes that makes a man look dapper… Try being an ogre in a fitting room at Banana Republic… Those button-down buttons are holding onto each other for dear life as I stretch that slave-made fabric over my chest… Can’t even dry anything in the dryer or it shrinks and makes it look like a muscle shirt… That job snub had nothing to do with you being short…

You didn’t get the job b/c you don’t have breasts….
emcee lexicon | Feb 04, 2010

 1. People go to singles clubs looking to get laid.

2. a) People looking to get laid are going to go for the most physically attractive partner they can find.

b) Shortness is largely considered to be an unattractive physical trait for guys to have (as well as girls).

3. You are short.

Therefore, girls in clubs are almost guaranteed not to be interested in you (unless you find one with a fetish for short guys).

I don’t see why you have a problem with a girl being more interested in your personality than your appearance. Who the hell WANTS to be objectified?

Which city is better, Frisco or Plano, TX?
I and our family are moving to Dallas an dwanted to hear your opinion on Frisco and Plano areas…They both seem nice, but not quite sure which one will be better for a family of 4, with 2 kids, of which one is a school age…Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You’re right they are both very nice cities. Some major differences are that Plano is an established city, it’s 3 times as large as Frisco, and the income level varies significantly among the residents.
Frisco is a new and growing community, and it’s a cookie cutter community. Frisco has good schools, Plano has exemplary schools. Frisco spends $5,100 per student, Plano spends $7,297 per student. The cost of living index in Plano is 91.4, while Frisco is 93.2, with the US average being 100. Plano population is 270,000, Frisco is 100,000. You won’t go wrong with choosing either one.

 Prairie Girl | Jan 29, 2010

They are both nice, well kept, generally upscale cities with tons of shopping, both grocery and anything else. Plano is older and all built out. Frisco is newer, further away from the city center in Dallas and has plenty of growth to go. Both have good schools.

Depending on where you will be working, you may find Frisco too far out. Most of the roads here are tolls, so it adds up quickly if you have further to travel each day. And traffic is very congested at rush hour.

I live in Plano and have been here over 25 years. Frisco hired Plano’s city planners when it started to grow, so the cities have many similarities. You will find more new everything in Frisco, Plano is more settled.
Texperson | Jan 29, 2010

Those are two of the most unpleasant cities in Texas. If I had to live in Collin County, I’d opt for McKinney.
Gary C | Jan 29, 2010

I’ve lived in Plano for 15 yrs, and lived and worked in Frisco for 3 yrs. Both are very nice cities, with great schools and plenty for families to do. Plano is a little more established and has settled down quite a bit while Frisco is still growing and building. Frisco is going through some growing pains, and traffic is a nightmare if you have to commute from there or through there. Median prices of homes in Frisco are a little higher, while Plano has a wide range of prices depending on where you look. If you are willing to look near either place, Prosper is a great growing area a few minutes north of Frisco, where it is still a little rural. In Collin county, McKinney is a great place, as are Lucas/Fairview areas that are just northeast of Plano and Allen areas. An area that is fantastic for families is in southern-most McKinney though, just north of Allen and east of Frisco. They are building nice, affordable homes in a family oriented area, and there are great schools there. Friends of mine just moved there and are very happy that they did.
MavONE | Jan 29, 2010

Plano has better schools than Frisco.
Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck), a US congressman accidentally dies near a subway station. At the same time a woman gets shot. These seemingly unrelated events are just the upper part of a huge iceberg of political intrigues that two Washington Globe journalists are going to discover. One of them, Cal McCaffrey (Russell Crowe), sticks to old-school methods: he digs for the info through the police and other personal connections. The other one, Della Frye (Rachel McAdams), is an active Internet user. While working on the story together, they both realize that they got involved into a dangerous and complicated play.

I’m looking for the name of a specific type of music. This type of music is generally happy, safe for children, (but not usually the target audience) and upbeat. I’m told its possibly ‘Bubblegum’. But I vaguely recall hearing it called something with an s like snoogle or something like that. Songs in my head are Walking on Sunshine and I Want Candy.

I’m not looking for your opinions of good music or anyone saying ‘omg pop is like that.’ etc. Just possible subgenre names.
