Why do Incubus keep writing songs about every chapter in an 8th grade science book?
They have songs about space, spontaneous combustion, inertia…what the heck!
What does Incubus mean? Isn’t that also something to do with science?
Actually, the word Incubus refers to an imaginary demon or evil spirit supposed to descend upon sleeping persons and is noted for having sexual intercourse with women during their sleep.
As for the science aspect of their writing – I’m sure that some of this relates to their 1997 Album which was titled "S.C.I.E.N.C.E."
Their songwriting is typically heavy in metaphors and visual imagery. They also take quite a few liberties with words, hence lyrics that include combustication, defragmenting, Cousteau, Temporaryism, zombified, orgasmatron, inflame, Aqueous, afterworld, somnambulist, reciprocity
Also, dince the members of Incubus were quite young when they broke on the scene, it’s possible that some of their songs were written during their 8th grade science class.
