Christians, is having to oppose Satan an important part of your personal faith (and other "Satan" questions)?
What do you understand Satan to be like?

Doesn’t human pride and other sins adequately explain the existence of evil, so that a tempting entity becomes unnecessary?

Why doesn’t Satan appear in all his crazy supernatural glory, set up a huge throne on top of Buckingham Palace or something, and start ruling the world directly?

Is God ok with Satan messing with us, as he appeared to be in the Book of Job?

Please answer as many as you can, and thanks in advance!

Satan is the one true God

Yes.

Agreed, except Satan is the father of all lies, and wants to see us fail in sin. Maybe the existence of evil is the tempting entity?

Because it is spiritual, not physical. Evil is nothing that can be measured physically.

Yes He is, when He is confronted.

He will appear and God will send a powerful delusion so everyone believes he is God.

Christians, is having to oppose Satan an important part of your personal faith (and other "Satan" questions)?
yes it is

What do you understand Satan to be like?
a person with his own vendetta.
he will do anything to get back at god even hurt god’s own people.
he deceives the whole world.

Doesn’t human pride and other sins adequately explain the existence of evil, so that a tempting entity becomes unnecessary?
no they are tempted to do evil by satan.
with out satan there is no temptation.

Why doesn’t Satan appear in all his crazy supernatural glory, set up a huge throne on top of Buckingham Palace or something, and start ruling the world directly?
satan is a spirit and can not be seen by our human eyes.

Is God ok with Satan messing with us, as he appeared to be in the Book of Job?

no he is not ok and uses his power to restrict satan to certain areas.
he allows people to be tempted.

Satan is like a roaring lion roaming around the earth seeking whom he may devour. Human pride and other sins are used against us by him. (unconfessed sin). Satan knows that God has limited his time and as it grows shorter; he is predicted to ’step up’ his attacks on us. The anti-Christ will attempt to ’set up’ his huge throne and rule and that is when Armageddon will begin. Remember in Job that God restored all that Job had doubly.

As a New Thought Christian I do not accept the satan doctrine. I believe ’satan’ is symbolic for man thinking and acting as material mortal man instead of like spiritual man. Mortal man is temporal whereas spiritual man is the true creation and is eternal. ‘Satan’ or material man is the author of all evil here on Earth. We do co-create and we have made this world what it is.

Yes it is. In fact it goes deeper than this. Christians choose to be for God rather. Anything other than God is where satan dwells. He that is for God is against satan.

Later.

Great questions.

I was raised in an agnostic family and studied Buddhism before becoming a Christian. I share this because I, like many people, do not read much of the Bible as if it is literal truth; instead, I see the stories about about Jesus walking on water, his miracle birth stories, stories about the devil as being metaphorically true but not literally true.

One thing all of us can agree on is that evil exists in the world. I would add that evil exists in everyone. It is so easy to give in to selfishness, hate, fear, and anxiety (we certainly see many "Christians" not only give in but celebrate their hate and fear). I don’t think there is literally a devil figure who is constantly trying to trip us up. There is no need! All of us already are capable of turning toward those unhealthy, hurtful choices.

So the devil, like God, is not going to be on top of Buckingham palace or the Empire State Building, etc. But he, like God, is everywhere. Which will we choose to follow: God/Truth/Love, or evil/fear/hate?

No Because it is God Who opposes Him we are but flesh with a spirit and soul the Angels of God are opposing Him now in the Spiritual world.

He is a rebellious Angle Who was a Special Creation that governed the Worship of Earth in Praise and had a place with the Cherubim around the Throne of God.

He became jealous of the Praise all going to God and wanted to receive worship for himself! He rebelled and so did about a third of the Angles and them And they are the masters of Deceit and they know their fate which has not come to pass yet. Their desire is to cause us God’s most loved Creation to be separated from God which is mankind. The reason for this is to cause God Pain in the loss of us and in the extent that he becomes successful in Hell when he and his angels are in torment he will take Comfort that he was able to keep these souls which God loves so much that He stepped out of Heaven in the form of Jesus the Christ and took on Him self flesh and submitted unto the Will of His Father in heaven that we might be saved from the penalty of sin which is death of the body and spirit.

He has on various occasions . He can assume any form and did so to Joseph Smith of the Jws and I personally believe in the form of a soul pretending to be Mary and various other so called saints .
They are and were with the Lord from their death as Jesus tells us in Luke 16:19 by example . They cannot and would not come back if they could!

The World will see Two come from God in the Tribulation ,the Two so called witnesses . We are told that Angels walk among us but these are Angels not People. Two very different things!

Satan is the tempter and accuser of men, but we can resist him by the power of Christ. Satan will, at some point in the future, rule the world directly for seven years through his tool, the anti-Christ. The Book of Job illustrates the faith of Job. (Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him Job 13:15)

I view God and Satan’s roles/relationship with each other to be very much like Willy Wonka and Mr. Slugsworth. I feel as though God is the boss, so to speak, and Satan is an employee whose job it is to test our faith and spiritual integrity. God has the ability to fire Satan if he so chooses, but doesn’t because his job is important to helping us grow spiritually.
