Ladies a little help here?
Sorry this is gonna be a long one. So I’ve been with this girl for going on 9 months now and I’m still confused about her feelings for me. I have always been there for her and supported her in every thing she has done even when I don’t agree with her decisions. When ever something has gone wrong I’ve stepped in and helped and never asked for any thing in return. I think I’ve made it pretty clear to her that I care about her more than any thing because I’ve tried to let my actions speak for me.
Now here is a little back ground. In June she went to New York for a few days to visit friends. She was there for 2 days when she called me crying hysterically on the phone at 8:30 at night on Wednesday saying some one stole her purse on the train and all she had left was her cell phone. I told her to find a friend to stay with and I would be up there ASAP, at the time she didn’t believe me. We live in DC so I packed a bag real quick and jumped on the first bus up to NY and made a hotel reservation while I was on the bus. I got to NY at 3:30am and called her to tell her that I was at the bus station in Manhattan and to come meet me. Rather than leaving NY right away with a bad taste in her mouth I called out sick to work and decided to stay with her there for 2 days and make sure she had fun and get her mind off losing her purse.
Shortly after was her birthday which I spent extravagantly on. I got her an $800 table at a night club for us and her friends and got her clothes an ipod with engraving and a big stuffed Hello Kitty and various other things.
She is in college and had said something about wanting a netbook to take to class with her and do school work on so I went out and got her a brand new pink dell netbook to and gave it to her as a surprise.
Last month she went to El Salvador for 2 weeks to get some dental work done which I didn’t think was a good idea. She got most of the work done in a little over a week and then called me cry saying she wanted to come home now and that she didn’t want to stay for another 6 days. So after we got off the phone I called the air line and had her ticket changed to leave the next day and payed the $450 fee for making the change.
Every time I do some thing she says to me, "Thank you. You didn’t have to do that." I tell her I know but I do it because I care and I just want to show her I care. A lot of times after I do these things for her she is so happy and excited and very grateful then she gets depressed and then says that she doesn’t want me to do stuff for her like that. Then for a few days she will get really quite and almost seem like she is pushing me away. I tell her I do it because I care and I can’t just stop caring.
Tell me am I doing something wrong? Why does she get depressed after I do stuff for her and why would she push away some one that cares about her so much?
My best friend sounds like your girlfriend. When things get serious, she runs. Mainly its because of her childhood. Things were bad when she was young and she doesnt want to deal with bad things as an adult, so she runs before things get bad or too serious. It also sounds like she may be using you. Or possibly she feels bad because she cant return the favor…
