Does anyone know whether moving the hamsters cage from one room to another twice a day is likely to cause?
the animal stress.Shouldnt the cage be set up and left in one place all the time, and also not close to the tv or hi fi speakers. Why i ask is because we’re in a council tower block with not much space. We cant sleep at night having the hamstesr cage in the bedroom cause of the noise of the wheel, but we keep her cage in our bedroom by day so she can get her sleep away from the tv and hi fi as they’re on a lot in the day, then at about 8pm we bring her cage into our living room for the night, but to get her to come out we have to take the cage apart and get her out her nest and handle her for half hour and then let her run around in her exercise ball for half hour, but as soon as we put her back in her cage she skuttles off into her nest again and stays there until the lights are out,and alls quiet when we’re in bed & then she’ll go on her wheel, but if you happen to get up in the night and go into the lounge to her she’ll vanish back into her nest till we’re in bed again.Perhaps hamsters eyes dont like electric light or something.Have any of you got hamsters that are the same way? Also am i doing wrong by moving suki’s cage around each day from lounge to bedroom, then at night back into the lounge for the night, then back into the bedroom when we get up in the morning? Can doing this be causing stress?Should we just leave the cage in one place all the time?Should we just keep the cage in the lounge all the time regardless of the television or hi fi beeen on in the day?The trouble is we’ve limited space in the lounge.Theres only one place to put the cage, right next to the hi fi speakers on a small table. Our lounge is very poky and small.Perhaps it’d be best to just keep suki’s cage in our bedroom all the time and where earplugs at night in bed as we’re very light sleepers,or to take the wheel off her when we go to bed.Can anyone offer any advice please?

Most small animals are nocturnal, they are awake at night and sleep during the day. It is probably not the best thing to move her cage all the time, but you also cannot take her wheel off of her at night…I think she would be really bored!

If her wheel squeaks at night you can try oiling it with some cooking oil, just a few drops where the wheel meets the stand, you must use cooking oil as other oils are poisonous.

It causes lot`s of stress so keep it in only one room or it will be more likley to die!!!!!!!!

also keeping it in the lounge at night will help you too!
