November 26, 2009So black friday is here and i want to buy a tv which i would mainly use for gaming and some movies. I am between a samsung or panasonic plasma 720p 600Hz or a samsung lcd 720p 60hz or samsung lcd 1080 60hz what do you think would be a better tv or do you recommend something different??
i bought a 42" tv a few months back and hooked up hdmi (white video port) to hdmi port on the tv /w a 6 foot cable (cheap one from best buy)
lcd is better b/c is wont burn out as fast (i read somewhere).
vlc to play movies, utorent to download .torrent files, mininova.org for movies and tv shows to dl w/o comercials, winrar to open .rar files, all is well in the world.

Don’t buy into that baloney stories about plasma not lasting long they haven’t anything to back it.But plasma TVs you will get darker blacks and the brighter colors will be crisp,draw back plasmas require more care to keep that great picture some have a feature called whitewash to get rid of image retention and should be done religiously with plasma TVs,others will say it is only 720P but in the 42 inch range that doesn’t matter that 1080P comes into play only with TVs much bigger.And LCD some of the picture cannot compare to plasma unless you pay more for it to be better some of those ones cost a lot,and people like LCD mainly because they are idiot proof less care compared to plasma TVs,they have a new TV like LCD they are LED and have a contrast ratio like plasma where you will get darker blacks and brighter crisp brights but they cost a pretty penny to own one.So if you see an LED at a great price check it out the quality of the picture is amazing.But to answer your Samsung or Panasonic that is tough they are both rated as the better ones out there,i have an LG plasma and it is great they have new ones in the LG TVs that are awesome great price also compared to what i paid.So i say checkout LG also great price and great picture.

It really is a personal preference, to which you think looks the clearest. On the other hand plasma TVs do burn out faster. its down to the money your willing to spend. In my experiences Samsung lcd is the best. plasmas seem to cost less, but i have had two burn out on me.

I would go with LCD 1080p 60Hz.
