Am i being over dramatic? my 3mnth old daughter has a cold.?
she has a little cold; runny nose, cough, a little too warm and fussy because she can’t sleep. I called off work and i’m taking her to the doctor. she is my first born child so this is new to me.
I feel like people around me might think i’m being dramatic by taking off work.. I don’t know I just want to be there for my daughter. So Am i being too dramatic about this situation?
Also My daughter could not sleep last night she kept crying (which she never does)….is there anything i can do for her?? Please help
Since it’s your first, you’re doing everything I would have done back then. Now, having two kids and learning a few things along the way… for a cold: get a humidifier, elevate the mattress (a rolled blanket or a thick pad underneath the mattress works great), use saline drops in the nostril and get a nasal aspirator to suck out any snot (gently so your baby doesn’t gag), and check the label but I love Baby Vick’s VapoRub. If your baby doesn’t have a high temperature, that is one less thing to worry about. You don’t necessarily have to go to the doctor’s but do what makes you feel comfortable. I would probably take off work too because nothing helps a baby like mommy and you’ll probably be too worried about her to concentrate on work anyways. She’s probably crying because she can’t breathe well and it’s uncomfortable trying to sleep. You didn’t say who normally watches her while you’re at work, so if it’s a loved one (close friend or family member) then you could consider still going to work (or consider this for the future). If your daughter goes to a babysitter or daycare, then it is a really good idea to stay home with your baby. Good luck and don’t worry and I would think about all of us moms have gone through this, especially with our first! My second got a cold at 4 weeks old which was heartbreaking. Poor baby!

No you’re not being over dramatic, every mother worries when her baby is sick….so you’re just being a good mother. As for her crying at night it’s probably because of the cold, take her to the doctor and they’ll give you an antibiotic or something for her.

No your not being over dramatic (least not in my eyes). In my opinion there’s nothing wrong with taking your child to the doctor for a little assurance or peace of mind. All you can really do for her is comfort her and since she’s running warm my mom used to unbutton there onesies or let them roam around in their diapers and or baby aspirin (like tylenol) to help any discomfort and suck out their nose with those little plunger things if they were that stuffy. I hope your little one gets better soon =)

Hello there! Your child comes first ! It is as simple as that. I was always the same way. You are not being over dramatic. You are doing what you should be. She most likely has an ear infection, that is why she is being so fussy. Little ones get ear infections very easily because the eustachian tube ( the tube that helps everything drain) is so very narrow. The slightest bit of sinus congestion, puts young babies at risk for inner or middle ear infections. This is all very normal, although extremely daunting for you. Especially being a first time mom. You hang in there, keep her hydrated and take he to the doctor. Within a day or two of being on antibiotics, she will be feeling much better. Best of luck to you and I hope that your little girl feels better very soon. I hope that this has been helpful.
