What Courses should I take in Grade 11 if I want to take Cinema?
Hello all, I am currently in grade 10 and it is time for me to choose my grade 11 courses. I have a great interest in film and classic cinema, and I wish to pursue a career as a filmmaker later on in life. So what type of courses do you think would be best to choose, to fit my interest and also help me out.

Oh and I’m in Grade 10 right now if you didn’t already figure it out and I reside in Canada.

P.S. – Don’t think of me as just some stupid kid who thinks film making is easy or a kid who watches stupid movies. Classic Cinema rules man! The Bicycle Thieves, Citizen Kane, Rear Window, Sunrise, etc… are my favorites.

So yeah, I’d appreciate the help.

YIKES!!! Should I continue to date him or not?
He shouts and gets angry for the slightest thing. He is very intolerant. He wants me to send him loving messages all the time, I do but not too many as we have only been dating 6 weeks. I want to take it slowly as I have been hurt before. Sometimes he cancels dates but wants me to be available all the time when it suits him. Once did not show up at all and never called me. He went off for the weekend with his friends witout telling me and had his phone switched off. I was waiting at home for his call. He never apologised but ended up shouting at me that I worried his brother as I phoned his brother asking where he was and his brother didn’t know. Yet, he wants me to be available for him when it suits him and gets angry when I am not. He gets angry easily for little things and has a temper. So I am not really sure he is a great guy …. He has no education and works in a factory and ever second week works on the night shift. I am studying for my Masters. His last girlfriends were vulgar and uneducated, one worked as a stripper. He used to work as a stripper. He is jealous and controlling and told him that I don’t need to see my friends much any more.

The first night we slept together he took me to a hotel. I dont know why he didnt take me back to his place. Ive been there since.

I told him that I had been hurt in the past and that I wanted to take it slowly. He shouted and got angry and said "Everyone has been hurt in the past. Just get over it"

Another time he got really angry because I asked to change bars and go to the bar next door as there were no seats at the bar we were at.

Once when we slept together I went to the bathroom to get condoms. Three days later he brought it up in an angry voice that I destroyed the romantic moment by going to the bathroom to get condoms.

Another time we arranged a blind date between my friend and his best friend and he got all angry and said "why would he phone her again as she won’t sleep wth him, she is just looking for friendship" and was even shouting.

SHOULD I CONTINUE TO DATE HIM? WOULD MANY WOMEN TOLERATE THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR?

He also told me that I talk too much about my friends and their lives and that I should only talk about me and him and our future together.

Also, some of his friends occassionally go with prostitutes even though they are married.

He is in the photo below. He is the one hunched down in the black t-shirt.

dump the dude….he sounds like a controlling, abusive douchebag!! he also sounds very sketchy and not typically what you’d want in a relationship…doesn’t sound normal…
Your first word is Yikes. That speaks volume.
Everything else you typed after that just goes downhill from there concerning him.
You’ve described him as an angry, insensitive, and controlling person.

I didn’t click on his pic. I don’t need to.What he looks like shouldn’t matter to me or you.

You should be with someone who is treats you as a human and who loves you.
The way you’ve described this guy makes me wonder if he even likes you.

The answer is clear cut to me.
monstrosity | Feb 09, 2010

No offense hun but this guys looks like the biggest creep ever. I think you already know the answer to this question. It’s clear he doesn’t respect you at all and you truly deserve better.

I reckon just one of the points you have made would be enough to deter any woman from a man, let alone the several that you have provided!

If he claims that safe sex is destroying a romantic moment then he clearly doesn’t care if you get pregnant. I don’t think any woman should tolerate this kind of bullsh*t in a relationship and good on you for realizing that this is not normal behavior.

Just make sure that when you break up with him you do it some place safe or even over the phone, as he sounds like the kinda guy that wouldn’t take to being dumped very well.
magritha1251 | Feb 09, 2010

"Once when we slept together I went to the bathroom to get condoms. Three days later he brought it up in an angry voice that I destroyed the romantic moment by going to the bathroom to get condoms."

Oh please gimme a goddamn break, he wouldn’t know romance if romance was giving him a bj. What he MEANT to say was I don’t wanna use a condom. Plain && simple.

Honey to be blunt, he’s an asshole, a controlling asshole at that, && anyone who dates him must not respect herself OR have common sense. What the hell even attract’d you to him in the first place..?

Now to be serious…
You need to find someone on your level. He is not. You’re smart, ambitious, && deserve someone just as smart, who respects you. He does not.

Because I can bet you’re not even the only girl he’s got on a leash. End it now, because his behavior won’t get better, but worse. Much worse..

P.S. He’s not even that hot. >_>
ScroogexJones | Feb 09, 2010

You pretty much described a douche bag. And no women DO NOT tolerate this kind of behavior. Sounds like he is trying to isolate you from your friends so he can have better control of you, and inpregnate you since he got mad cuz you went to go buy a condom.

I would recommend that you run and not look back STAT!!

p.s. i don’t think hes hot either

Does anybody still doubt that the Jets defense is legitmately elite?
For the first three weeks of the season Drew Brees was playing on a Dan Marino-like level, the running game was borderline dominant and they churned out points like a factory.

Then they meet the Jets defense, and get held to 10 points. Obviously they still won the game, but anybody that watched the whole game should know that Mark Sanchez’s mistakes had a lot more to do with the outcome than anything the Saints did.

Also, keep in mind the Jets have been dominating without their best pass rusher, Calvin Pace, who gets back from a suspension next week. Once he gets back, they’ll be able to use Vernon Gholston exclusively as a pass rusher on passing downs, which is all he should be doing in the first place, instead of playing every down, which he’s been doing so far this season.

The Jets offense is probably not good enough to take them very deep into the playoffs this season, but as long as their defense stays relatively healthy they shouldn’t be giving up many touchdowns all year, and anybody that knows the first thing about football knows that DEFENSE wins.

It’s nice to have a QB throw for 5,000 yards a year, but I’d rather have a dominant defense than an explosive offense.
I’m not talking about the QB or the team in general, just the defense.

If there was any dominant performance in this game it was the Jets defense dominating the Saints offense, especially considering how explosive the Saints have been this year.

You people will be saying the Jets are overrated in week 16 when their defense has given up like 19 TDs the whole season.

Jets is way overrated, Saints killed them anyway, and the jet quarterback???? He is a joke, he has been biting nails instead looking and reviewing his plays.
Cajun Bulldogs | Oct 04, 2009

Brees was actually held without a TD pass last week and the Saints offense still rolled. The Jets D is okay but their offense was terrific to start last year and everyone knows how the season ended. Until the Jets defense performs at a high level for a couple of seasons they won’t get, and don’t deserve, the recognition as an elite defensive team.
BTW-Was that Favre or Sanchez playing QB today?
Narcoleptic Insomniac | Oct 04, 2009

You have to be joke with me!!!! Jets Defense won by lucky, and that dont mean any crap. Bill defense stop Drew Brees pass games but Saints still dominated Bill.

There is same result today but hey, Bill play way more better than Jets does.

Saints defense is way better than Jets defense. Saints destroyed Jets no matter what…

Result: Saints dominated over Jets…

Vegans: While I think its great you guys like organic food, why do you want all food to be organic?
I mean I think supporting your local farmers and eating organic is great luxury you have and I am glad you have the choice.

But I don’t understand why all of these green peace people are labeling efficient mass produced conventional foods and trying to end the advancements in genetically modified crops that could produce way higher yields which would feed the starving and also make farm land smaller allowing nature to reclaim unneeded farm land.
I know many of you people want everyone to eat organic food, but since organic food is much less efficient it could only feed like 2/3’s of the worlds population. Who do you feel should no longer eat? Indian people? African people? Why can’t you eat your specialty produce, and let others eat what they can afford?

I mean imagine in the future a genetically modified crop that grows twice as fast and doubled the yields, that would make the amount of farm land needed be half of what it is today, maybe nature could reclaim these areas instead of row about row of corn. Why can’t you eat organic food since you can afford it and allow the rest of the world do what they can to survive.

Also why does it seem like many of the organic for all supports kinda ignore or dismiss scientific data that does not support their view points?
You Need to think REALISTICALLY: I know many of the utopias are a better solution i.e. people stop eating meat, the 3rd world countries stop having like 10 children. But thats wont happen, these worlds can’t exist and wont exist.
So if you realize that you can’t change people you can change how our consumption can become more efficient.

So since its a fact that 99% of people do not have the will power to become vegans and people will be people. Why go against conventional crops and crop advancements?

I mean lets say 7 billion people. Each person takes with an organic crop 1 acre a year to feed them. which would be 7 billion arces of farm land needed.

Now lets say they advance food technology enough that it take .25 acres. That means you only need 1.74 billion acres of farm land needed.

Wouldn’t you rather have less farm land more natural enviroments? I mean you can eat organic food, but don’t try to stop these essential advancements that allow us to get more out of less
Why are you guys changing the argument away from organic food to livestock? Also isn’t it better to have a small area used for farm land that has chemicals, then a larger plot of land that would infringe on the forest to make farmland.

-also people will eat meat its unrealistic to assume it would end, organic and conventional food are the same product just mad differently and thats something that can be changed.

And my 3rd point is YES organic food is a luxury, our population is to big now for organic farming to support. It supported the world when it the worlds population was a 10% of what it is now. But now we need more efficient and higher yield crops to feed the world.
To turn our backs on the advancement of agriculture technology, would be the opposite of what enviromentalists should want. We should be trying to make crops create higher yields so when our population inevitably grows that the earth does not turn into one giant farm.
Sorry for the misspellings I did not read what I wrote over, it may be difficult to understand when I wrote for example "just mad differently" you just need to assume i meant "made".

I eat organic because I want there to be usable farm land to grow the crops my children eat.
Organic is not a luxury, organic is the way we need to begin growing more of our food if we wish there to be farm land in the decades and centuries to come.

Your argument does not hold any water and this is why.

GM crow, although in the short term to increase yeilds they do not allow adequite time from the undergrowth and dead growth to fully decompose before the next crop reaches maturity. The end result of this is that the very thin layer of top soils is deleted quickly, resulting in land which is no longer suitable to grow anything on after a few growing seasons.

Another reason why GM crops are bad is because the choke out native species. Having no natural predators these crops grow unopposed, this means that once they are introduced they will continue to grow and grow, unopposed will choke out native plants, which will choke out native insects and animal. This is a piss poor idea because all those bugs and animals are an integral part of producing more top soil. All Agriculture is Dependant upon good top soil and good top soils depends on three things – dead plants, insects and animals and all of the nitrogen rich matter they produce.

GM crops also allow us to use herbacides and pesticides, which get into ground water. I don’t think I need to explain why pouring neurotoxins into ground water is a bad idea.

Did you know that 70% – yes 70% of the farm land in America is used to grow crops, not to feed us, not to feed starving children in third world nations. It goes to feeding Cows. Cows eat 44 LBS of (20KG) grain per day. They are taken to slaughter at around i year maturity. So in that time that Heifer will have eaten just over 16000 pounds of grain. Each cow will yield about 500 pounds of meat which we consume. So that one pound burger you are eating is actually 32 LBS of grain.

Also around 40% of the produce grown is actually thrown out, not because it is bad, but because it does not look "perfect". If you have ever grown your own food you will know that a 2 pronged cucumber, a tomato that looks like it has a tumor, or even the odd conjoined fruit is pretty par for the course, however you will never, ever see those on a market shelf.

So I eat the way I do, because it is sustainable. Organic means that the precious soil is being taken care of. The ground water which is needed to continue to feed future crops is clean, the plants that I am eating are also feeding the local bugs and animals which are needed to continue the circle of life.

If we condensed all our agriculture into high density operations as you are suggesting we would rapidly deplete all of the remaining land we have which is suitable to grow crops on.

Like vegans have control over the world? This is about local food, not meat. Why is this specifically addressing vegans? This is stupid.
You can eat all the pestacides and poisons you want. I think I choose living longer and healthier. BEFORE you go stating that organic fruits and veggies take up room for farmland, keep in mind that 80% of all farmland is used to raise MEAT as in cattle, pigs, and other forms of meat. That farmland could be used to grow NORMAL organic foods enough to feed Africa and all the other starving country’s. So go ahead eat you genetically modified foods, who lives healthier in the end? who’s doing more for the planet? who’s doing more for the people? right?
You should watch the documentary ‘Food, inc’. You may understand then.

Organic produce should not be adressed as a "luxury". That is the way it has been since the beginning of time until man corrupted the system. Pesticides, cross-contamination, GMO’s, and destroying of the environment is enough for me to take a stand and say that enough is enough. I will not be part of that system. I can’t do this on my own but whenever one single person makes that choice, it’s like a domino effect. Why is this an attack towards vegans? I know plenty of meat-eaters (my family) who buy local/organic meat and dairy products for these reasons as well.
this has nothing to do with vegans. sorry.
i used to be vegan and ate regular fruits and veggies.
being vegan mean no meat and no dairy. period.

i can see where youre going tho.

and organic food is supposed to be easier to digest and very healthy without all the chemicals.
i would love to eat more organic foods. its just expensive :/
Vegan doesn’t equal organic, you know. Vegan just means no animal products. I eat oreos on a daily basis, you think that’s organic? I don’t even buy a lot of my food organic, just the stuff that matters, like grains and leafy green greens mostly. I don’t get organic apples, because I peel them, or bananas, or oranges or a lot of other things. Most of things that are most infested with chemicals are animal products anyway.
Because they are ignorant and clueless. Fact is that the same pesticides are used on organic produce and the "natural" fertilizers cause organic produce to have high frequency of Ecoli! Organic produce is much worse for the environment and has NO nutritional benefits as proven by the FDA! Also as a side not the only requirment to call produce organic is that they do not use "synthetic" pesticides, no restrictions on fert, hormone, packaging. Also 90% of pesticides are naturally occuring it is just cheaper and better for the environment to make them synthetically! So in essence organic produce has the same pesticides on it they just cam from a naturall source, which had to be grown, harvested and produced! All in all organic produce is for those that have never bothered to do 1 minute of research on their own and are sheep to fads!
Organic and genetically modefied are two different things. And I’m in International Agricultural Development, so listen up. In most developing countries, what they have is locally grown produce. They grow food, sell it at a local market. They don’t have the whole developed system of transport and processing in factories. Agriculture is undertaken by families for their own survival. May or may not be organic, but probably is, because the chemicals cost money to get there. Except they don’t think of it like that. When there’s a pest outbreak that’s killing the crops, foreign aid workers come in with pesticides, but they don’t usually do this in a preventative case, because the chemicals often easily get into the water source, which is an awful fate. Back in the U.S. we had to move our well once because of chemical runoff getting into our water. They don’t have the resources for that in Nepal or Honduras. They used to introduce fertilizer a lot, but it’s again bad for the local water, so they don’t do that very much. Now, we also introduce genetically modified crops to countries, like the wheat that Norman Borlaug modified to be very hardy and high yield. He’s estimated to have saved over a billion people with that wheat. And most of it is grown organically, amazingly enough. Hand-picked, too. I don’t know what you mean by advanced farming techniques that would cut down on the space needed. I’ve never heard of that. It takes as much space whether it’s organic or inorganic

What people are arguing about is not all over the world, really. It’s in the United States where food could definitely afford to be organic. And it can be produced efficiently and be organic. The extra is just wasted, thrown away, and much of it goes to animals for their production. When we go to aid development in developing countries, we don’t introduce animals. We don’t know what it’d do to the environment, and it’s pretty inefficient. We introduce hardy plants that can grow nearly anywhere.

I’m a vegan, and I’m quite baffled as to your question and why you’re introducing it to us. Vegans are only a fraction of the local foods movement. That’s why we keep talking about livestock, because that’s what vegans know about. And it’s only directed towards developed countries where they’ll ship lettuce from California to Maine when you can buy it from your local farmer’s market for cheaper and a lot less harm on the environment.

I hope I’ve helped you see the full point. Some are concerned about genetically modified foods and their ability to create super pests and things (which are sometimes substantiated) but they fail to understand that genetically modifying things is comparable to cross-pollination. Most popular types of tomatoes and other produce are genetically modified originally. It’s an evolutionary process that people are only speeding up. It may be harmful in some cases, but in many it’s helpful.

So those are all things to take into consideration before coming to conclusions. I think everyone is distorting what’s actually going on based on their feelings and their experience. Here’s what’s going on in international agricultural development, here are the issues, here is what usually happens.

*please* help with my book?
Yes, I am fully aware I just posted this. But I’d really like some help. Please?

so my friend and I are co-writing a novel with each other and we have a few advice-seeking questions.

1. this book is supposed to be of the ‘horror’ or ‘thriller’ genre. Problem is, we’re having trouble introducing the scare-factor and the gripping feeling that leaves you on the edge of your seat. What are some good ways to do this without going overboard? We have the characters and potential, but we need some ideas on how to shape it into a ‘horror’. (and it does have a very intricate plot)

2. in the book, my character (and one of the main characters) dies in the beginning. She goes on to a place of lost souls, trapped by the other characters strong memory of her. She comes back later in the book over a span of 7 years. Well, this has unfortunatley been CRAMMED into three chapters (ch 3-6). And we’ve found that this is very repetative. How can we pull this apart so the reader sees a definite CHANGE in the story. Right now it’s like, "aw, she’s gone. No! I wish he could hear her! and oh, okay she’s back.." Bloody boring, if you ask me. So what can we do to make this interesting?

3. later on in the story, the two protagonists have to face and overcome three trials set by the antagonist. The antagonist is not limited in power, so these trials are supposed to be mind-boggling and interesting and really unique. The male protagonist is supposed to face them alone (as a mortal) but the female protagonist (who is immortal. actually, at this point they’re both half mortal…but that’s too complicated to be explained…) insists that she is allowed to help the male. Well, we’ve come up with one trial that has to do with a mansion…yes, it sounds cheesey, but it’s very…odd. haha. now, we can’t think of anything for the second and third! That’s where you come in. If you have an idea–ANY idea–at all, please help! What would be really cool and interesting? What would be something seemingly impossible that would allow room for several plot twists and turns?

So I hope that is enough information…if not, just ask if you need something else. We thank you so much for your time and help!
XxBrokenxX
it’s because the main character dies that we have the book. half of it is written from her perspective. oh so much more happens after…and she’s not *dead* dead. just physically speaking

1 – Horror the way i know it is very bloody, goory and with full of psycho and so on. The sentences of the character needs to put readers on the edge of their seats.

2- First a main character doesn’t die at the beggining. Common! Unless your writting in backward (like 3td book first, then second then the first book comes out!) and in that first one the main character dies. A main character takes time to shape. If he/she is dead, than how are they suppose to grow and so on? Unless they are ghost, or some other undead, then it makes sence!

Oh sorry misread, well place her back as a undead. Undead example are"zombi, ghoul, and so on: then you have undead with will (Like a mind) like "spectors, vampires and Leeches". Though Undead with will are VERY VERY POWERFULL. Especially the vampire and leech.

3- Make them fail one of the trial. What’s the gamble is it something they can lose? If they can’t then i dunno. But make em fail the trial, so they will lose something important, which just makes the protagonist think of nothing but revenge on this antagonist!

I know the idea are very bold. But hey at least i tried!
1.) Think about how fear and suspense are created in similar works. What devices do authors use? In your book, would it be best to go into great detail, or would it be more frightening to leave most of it to the imagination of the reader? You could also try reading some horror books or watching a horror movie and writing down exactly what you are feeling and what made you feel that way. I know that sounds really boring, but it works amazingly well. Also, something to remember: the reader will be scared much more easily if the character is scared and the reader can connect with the character. Often it is best to wait until later in the story, once you have established the reader-character pathos, to introduce events that are supposed to invoke strong emotion.

2.) Again, what I said above about waiting to establish love for the character applies here. If you kill the character immediately, the readers are less likely to care like you want them to than if you were to have her die later. You may want to spend quite a long time at the beginning, before the action really starts, letting your readers get to know your characters. In my novels, I can take anywhere from 20 to 70 pages on this "introduction" stage. Once the reader feels a connection with the character, it will be much more of a "change" when she dies.

3.) For the last one, I’m afraid I can’t help too much. This is an important part of your book, and writing a book is personal; you have to come up with ideas on your own to really be able to write about them. I would suggest, though, looking through old sayings, proverbs, and riddles. Check out the riddle of the sphinx and see if you can’t put a twist on that. Also have a look at the saying "The way forward is often the way back." There are numerous things you could contrive as to what that means. (Is it literal? Is it figurative? etc.) Things like that.

Anyways, hope this helps, and good luck with your writing.
Although both girls long to be break free of the small-town life, Jillian is the first to act, revealing to Sarah that she has been meeting men on-line with the sole purpose of finding someone who will “take her away from this place”. Soon thereafter, she disappears leaving Sarah with only a journal and a cryptic video message sent from her cell-phone. Sarah soon discovers that the town would rather forget that Jillian had ever existed. Distraught, she delves into the secrets surrounding her disappearance.
I'm really confused about this, HELP!?
I’ve been dating this guy for about 2 months, and I’m crazy about him..and he says he loves me and that I make him the happiest he’s been in awhile.
I’m 17, hes 19.
but he’s been addicted to triple c’s for over a year, and he’s been trying to stop but he still does them.
and he’ll go an entire day without texting me or calling me when I wanna see him. what does this mean?
is he really in love with me or is he just saying it.

we’ve been having sex, but i hooked up with him over a year ago and that was the first time we had sex, and i know my emotions get all in it when i have sex with a guy. should I stop having sex with him? will he go elsewhere for sex ? will no sex make him work in the relationship?
should I talk to him about my feelings? if I do what should I even say?
should we just break up?

I really don’t know what to do and no one else can give me advice.
help.

should i be the one to make friends with her?
well me and my friend fell out over something stupid, tbh i don’t know what i did wrong, all i did was ask her if we are still best friends & she didn’t respond to my text so we aren’t speaking (i know that she got the text). but i’m ALWAYS the one to sort things out & im sick of it! should i just leave it and wait for her to sort it out or should i ‘be the bigger person’ and sort it.

i’m awful at keeping grudges so.. :/ but i don’t want to coz it seems like im desperate

Is it strange for a mother 2 call an adult son several times daily?
My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship 4 over a decade and have been living together 4 about 6. He is 25 years old and is trying 2 convice me that it is normal 2 recieve calls from his mother all day. These calls are are frequent and last for a while. She will converse with him asif she talkin 2 an old girlfriend and his voice changes 2 that of a 10 year old. She has been single for a while… I feel asif she is way 2 clingy because of this. I get the feeling that she makes up these dependent situations so my boyfriend can run 2 her every beck and call!!!!
We only have a few hundred dollars saved in the bank and he is paying her late phone bill and the woman has a full time job!!! Not a gas or light bill her cell bill? I can see her using him, but 4 some reason pple have the misconception that they cannot b used by a person if they’re family. I utilized the word "use" because in that past 4-5 years his mother hasnt givin him chit!! For someone that calls him several times a day its no coincidence. Im talkin not even a pot or a spoon or a towel;nothing. Stuff young pple need when they r jus starting out. But as soon as she needs something his phone rings?
For some reason if u ask someone what is up wit their mother you automatically sound like a biotch. I would also look jealous, but i have a great relationship with mine. It is said if a man has a good realtionship wit his mom that he is most likely a good man which in my case is true so am i making a big deal about nothing or is this normal? The lines are really blurry.

I have a son also and he has a good job and all that he has to take care of is himself and the bills he makes. I do not ask nothing of my son who is 27. This is a decision that I have made. It is obvious that she is making him feel guilty.
