IMDB rating: 6.40 Plot: Roland Michell is an Americian trying to make it in the difficult world of British Academics. He has yet to break out from under his mentor’s shadow until he finds a pair of love letters in the textbook that once belonged to one of his idols, a famous long dead Victorian poet. Michell, after some sleuthing around, narrows down the suspects to a woman not his wife, another well known Victorian poet. Roland enlists the aid of a Dr. Maud Bailey, an expert on the life of the woman in question. Together they piece together the story of a forbidden love affair, and discover one of their own. Do you consider Scientology a religion?
I live in the mecca of Scientology. Clearwater, FL.
I seeing it first hand I have a really hard time understanding why anyone buys into scientology. They all wear the same outfits and give all there money and possessions to it unless you work your way up to a high level or are born into a high level.
I have seen the high level people well I know them and they do not where those outfits and they do not give all their money and possessions to the religion.
They live in big houses on the water and live it up. I think that these people are really just supporting the affluent life style of the higher ups because of their insecurities about life. Like they need to belong to something.
It’s a big scam. It was Ron L. Hubbard himself that said "If you wanna get rich…start a religion."

It’s far different from a organized religion. It all looks the same cause you recognize the name but you don’t know anything about scientology and probably not very much about organized religion.

Yes, I consider it to be a religion. It has all the makings and brainwashing of your typical religion, it tells you that there is something initially wrong with you and only it can fix you, and it originated very much in the same way all other religions originated… it was made up.

Honestly, I don’t know much about them. I interacted with them once before I found truth, and they struck me as beyond weird. Just a feeling I get about people.
As you describe it, it looks more like a pyramid scheme. Get more followers, and you can move up the ladder, and then they get more followers so then they can move up the chain. I never got that far with them.

Ron (PBUH) recognised a basic human need to be totally taken in by a complete load of crap!
This had been going on for thousands of years but Ron (PBUH) saw the chance to get in with "mainstream" religion and make mega-bucks!

If you get people to follow your believes no matter how stupid they are, then I guess that is a religion. Jim Jones had people follow him. So did Reverend Moon and numerous others thru time. Yes, I do think that Scientology is stupid too. We do live in America so people do have a choice no matter how goofy it is.
Just like Peter Griffin when he built a church for "The Fonz". ( If you saw that episode) He had Quagmire, Cleveland and a bunch of other dudes following him worshiping the Fonz from Happy Days . Scientology is a good comparison to that. It’s just freaking weird. You are on quite the religious questions kick aren’t you? You are one of a kind. I mean that in a good way.
