If you liked the fresh Weird COUPLE – slob and compulsive neatnik thrown together in the same apartment – or HEAVEN KNOWS, MR. ALLISON – tough guy WWII Marine marooned on an enemy-held South Pacific island with a blooming nun, then you should savor FATHER GOOSE starring Cary Grant, Leslie Caron and Trevor Howard. I saw it once again on the telly this past weekend while doing the ironing, and I’m fortunate to be frail enough to have an appreciation of all three films.

Grant is Walter Eckland, an antisocial, unkempt escapee from “civilization” that spends his time bumming around the South Seas on an passe yacht. At the initiate of WWII, he’s coerced into service as a “fly watcher”, an observer stationed on a remote island as a lookout for Japanese planes or ships, by the wily and dry-witted local Royal Navy authority figure, Comdr. Houghton (Howard) . Eckland is bribed with booze to compose in His Majesty’s service. One of his first assignments is to boat over to another island and rescue a fellow sail watcher. But, on arriving, he finds only his colleague’s grave and the Caron character, Catherine Freneau, the daughter of a French government official, who’s been stranded with a bevy of underage schoolgirls of which she has charge. Walter naturally takes them encourage to his island and his hovel, where the differences between the two adults soon surface. To Eckland, Freneau becomes “Goody Two Shoes”, while, to the latter, her knight in stained armor becomes the “Filthy Beast”.

While admittedly droll entertainment, FATHER GOOSE is a palatable romantic comedy that doesn’t, like some of the new Tinseltown offerings, rely for laughs on sensitive body parts being caught in zippers, bodily fluids masquerading as hair gel, or carnal knowledge of apple pies. This film has Class, chiefly due to the presence of Grant, who character demonstrates more suavity unshaven and without socks than any one of today’s prick of male actors dressed up in a tux. (Perhaps only Sean Connery, Robert Redford and Paul Newman are terminate to being in the same league.) Caron’s strong-willed and very feminine Freneau is more than a match for Eckland’s obstinately boorish masculinity – a pairing made in heaven, or at least Hollywood.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Father Goose! Click Here

Perhaps my high treasure for this film is more a function of nostalgia. But there’re a lot of other films from that same period of my youth that are eminently forgettable, so I have to assume that FATHER GOOSE is a lop above.

Cary Grant is cast as Walter Eckland in this very laughable classic comedy. His normal sexy leading man characteristics are downplayed to let his comedic genius shine through. He stars opposite Leslie Caron cast as Catherine Freneau. They are an accident waiting for a region to happen at their first meeting, and it objective gets worse from there. Walter is bribed and threatened into service as a watcher in WWII. Catherine is a diplomat’s daughter given the responsibility of escorting several school children into a safer state. When they are all stranded together, the hilarity, and battle of the sexes begins.

This is one of my popular comedies, and one of Cary Grant’s last movies. No one does it like he does. A mountainous film that the entire family can bask in together.

I never understood why so many people abominate this movie. Even Fangoria called it ‘abysmal’. But I deem it a qualified follow-up to the enjoyable Demon Knight. It has smart acting: Dennis Miller is a treat as smartass private peer. Angie Everhart is not only the hottest female vampire in years, no, she even proves that she can actually act. Corey Feldman has one of his very few profitable roles. But who really chews the scenery is Chris Sarandon (Panic Night), one of the most underrated actors ever: His performance as a TV preacher alone makes this movie worth watching. Only Erika Eleniak is rather miscast. And stare out for Demon Knight stale William Sadler (another underestimated actor) as mummy. The make-up F/X are not only unbelievably gory for an R-rated movie; they’re so superior they even surprise genre buffs who view they’ve seen it all. The characters are wonderfully queer, and although there’s loads of shadowy humour in it, I’m satisfied Bordello of Blood never turns in a fun-splatter movie and level-headed provides some chills. Even if you heard it’s awful: Give it a try! It’s more than impartial another vampire movie and has more imaginery than all those original teen fright films that Weep spawned together. I impartial hope there’ll be a final portion to the Tales from the Crypt full-length-feature trilogy.

Bordello of Blood is the second Tales From the Crypt movie, and I found it very delicious.

Unlike the first movie (Demon Knight) this movie did not commence out with the television show’s opening. It opened more like a movie than an extra long episode.

Bordello of Blood is the sage of a down-on-his-luck private investigator (Dennis Miller) looking for a missing teenager. The search leads him to a funeral home that is a front for a bordello hurry by vampires. Miller’s client tells him to tumble the case but he really needs the case to succeed if he is going to collect his license support. Miller investigates and plays a very savvy investigator who doesn’t topple for anyone’s lines and is not surprised by what he finds. Added to this is television evangelism, the lore of vampires and their origin, and the key from the first movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Tales from the Crypt Presents Bordello of Blood! Click Here

The action is similar to the series with the same tongue-in-cheek humor (possibly even more so) . I particularly liked the investigator’s resourcefulness in eliminating the vampires (a long-range, large-capacity squirt gun filled with holy water) and the vampire applying the SPF100 sun block.

If you like Tales From the Crypt, there is no reason you will not like this one.
Electronic Cigarette
Buy Electric Cigarette
Smokeless Cigarette
Wholesale Authentic Designer Handbags
Electric Cigarette

This is a very humorous performance from the man himself Dave Chappelle. This performance was in Washington DC and was a 2 hour special he had on HBO. As going into the first hour already I was laughing my (…)! Dave Chappelle talks through the troubles of an average shadowy man. This DVD would have been more better if it had special features. It would have been sizable if there was an interview with Dave or backstage gradual the scene recognize. But its all superior. This performance smooth covers with its raw sense of mentality. If you have the Chappelle demonstrate 1st season in your DVD collection, you have to add this to your collection. A must rob DVD.

This is the kind of comedy that you can’t wait to indicate to all your friends. I have even showed this to non-americans and they detached acquire all the jokes and laugh hysterically. If you like “shriek it like it is” comedy, then you CAN NOT miss this extraordinary performance. From the opening jokes to the destroy, this is a well timed and well delivered performance from Chappelle. I have not seen anything this comical since Eddie Murphy retired from stand-up. Not for kids, but no blueprint can you pass this up for mammoth laughs. And trust me, you will observe it over and over, only laughing more and more at all the substantial jokes like “romance is expressionless, (women in the audience clap) but women killed it (men high-five!) “
Smokeless Cigarette
Virtual Phone Numbers
Smokeless Cigarettes
Raise Your Credit Score
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes

This is the Flash Gordon entertaining series that aired on Saturday mornings from 1979-1981 and is one of the best shows that ever came out of the Filmation studios. The animation is high quality for its time and the stories were very upright to the new 1930’s comical strip. To top it all off this DVD state will give you a host of goodies you hardly ever ogle for a cartoon DVD release from the 80’s.

Do any of you remember the cartoon Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle befriend in the 70’s? The same company, Filmation, created the Flash Gordon exciting adventures. What that means is the artwork is of a suited quality. We’re talking movie quality (like the better stuff from Heavy Metal) with vibrant colors and even some appealing animation. A lot of this animation came from rotoscoping and it looks awesome (rotoscoping is a process where true actors/stuntment are filmed and then traced over on cel animation to gain very fluid movement in animation) . While not all the animation was rotoscoped it makes up for the fact that 70’s television animation was itsy-bitsy to a dazzling uncouth framerate due to budget constraints. In the waste you earn something that blows away anything on TV at the time.

You gotta devour the attention to detail that you score from a cartoon from this era, but there are drawbacks. Sometimes you eye the same rotoscoped action again and again. Not that mountainous of a deal when you realize each episode came out weekly. What really bugged me was the employ of stock sound effects that really didn’t fit the grandness of the point to. Now and then some cheesy “kid prove” boing sound and such would pop up and that would raze the whole polished feel I obtain from the note.

The episodes were position with a serial feel to them, having cliffhangers on many of the episodes. This is not only keeping legal to the classic comics (and matinees from the 40’s) it’s a spacious method to maintain you indignant about the exhibit. This demonstrate was critically acclaimed if that gives you any indication. While the script isn’t as sophisticated as what you discover in more original shows like the Batman Arresting Series you have to support in mind this was made in 1980 when cartoons weren’t taken seriously at all. I will admit the later episodes do secure kiddied up more with a goofy baby dragon making cutesy noises as it “talks”… I blame the network executives for that.

This DVD gives you the ENTIRE SERIES. All 24 episodes that aired are on this plot. This is such a breath of new air after seeing cartoon after cartoon gain released with impartial a few episodes on single release. Another breath of recent air is that this DVD will have a really nice listing of extras. Here’s what you get:

- Blasting off with Flash Gordon. A 20-minute documentary with interviews from creators and historians about Flash Gordon. You definitely feel the pride they had working on the expose and you acquire some nice in depth background info on the process. One thing that bugged me about the documentary was how the staff really railed on the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. For people who said they understood the classic Flash Gordon they certain missed the note in their assessment of the movie. Maybe they were bitter or something about the timeliness of both projects.

- Character and setting profiles, which basically give you an overall summary of Flash’s friends, enemies and places on planet Mongo that he visits in the series. Nothing fresh that you won’t catch impartial watching the episodes.

- Commentary tracks on three episodes with the show’s producer, writer and animator.

- Interactive storyboards you can compare to various action footage.

- Grand gallery of sketches of all the main characters.

- DVD ROM direct with entire scripts, storyboards and the series bible (sweet) .

- Easter Eggs

- Bonus episode from Defenders of the Earth cartoon series.

- Two collectible 4″x6″ trading cards by droll book artists Frank Cho and Gene Ha

The DVD was first released at the San Diego ComicCon July, 2006. Then released everywhere about a month later. This is THE collection for this series. They are doing it up better than any other DVD release of a cartoon series I have seen from the 70’s or 80’s. If you’re a fan of this exhibit you absolutely, positively want to salvage this site. If you are a fan of Flash Gordon or those classic matinee serials that inspired movies like Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark then you too will procure something to be pleased in this series.

I spent my Saturday mornings as a kid in the 1970’s growing up on classic Filmation television and the Novel Adventures of Flash Gordon is, without a doubt, one of the greatest though-provoking series of all time. This display revolutionized cartoon animation the plan that Star Wars revolutionized special effects, which seems somewhat ironic because Flash Gordon was the principal influence for Star Wars and the interesting Flash Gordon cartoon would debut shortly after it to trek the wave of Star Wars’ phenomenal success. The arresting series would also influence worthy of the production execute of Mike Hodges’ live-action 1980 film starring Sam Jones as Flash and Max Von Sydow as Ming the Merciless. Worthy of the realism of the animation is attributed to its fresh “rotoscoping” technique in which live actors are filmed and then each frame is traced and replaced with animation cells. The result is realistic figure movements that do the animation advance to life. I always loved the animation because of this as well as the wonderful spaceships whose fluid three dimensional movements and aerodynamic designs were as visually attractive to leer as any of those in Star Wars.

The first 16 episodes of the first season were serialized the same intention as the venerable 1930’s Alex Raymond laughable strips. The second season suffered when NBC decided to change the format of the display by cutting them down to 12 microscopic chapters (2 per episode) and the addition of the Godzooky-like flying dragon Gremlin was thrown in to “juvenilize” the display for the kiddies. The result is a precursor to several 80’s cartoons that followed such as Filmation’s maintain Blackstar in 1981 featuring the intrepid John Blackstar and the dwarven Trobbits and in 1983 with He-Man and the Masters of the Universe with sidekick Orko the Magician. He-Man was developed primarily as a line of toys by Mattel the company who also produced a series of action figures and toys for Filmations’ Flash Gordon cartoon so the partnership between the two seemed only natural. In fact, several of the vocal performers from He-Man and She-Ra were featured in Flash Gordon first including Alan Oppenheimer who voiced Ming the Merciless and Doctor Hans Zarkov was also the whine of Skeletor, Man-At-Arms and Cringer on Masters of the Universe. Melendy Britt who was the whisper of Princess Aura was also the hiss of She-Ra, the Princess of Power and Diane Pershing who was the disclose of Dale Arden was also the lisp of Poison Ivy on Batman: the Interesting Series and the stutter of Isis on Filmation’s Tarzan and the Shipshape 7 together with Robert Ridgley who was Flash and Prince Barin as the snort of Tarzan. Hopefully the release of this classic series will renew interest and question in Flash Gordon and generate a unique expect for the traditional Mattel action figures and memorabillia.

I am very wrathful that this series is finally being released in the U.S. even though I have already purchased the European PAL place a few years ago. The “deluxe” 4-disc North America release includes extensive bonus features not found on the 3-disc Spot 2 release such as the 20 shrimp documentary “Blasting Off With Flash Gordon!” featuring recent interviews with producers Norm Prescott and Lou Scheimer and interactive storyboard-to-clip comparison, plus commentary with the producers and writers on “Planet of Grief,” “Sir Gremlin,” and “Gremlin’s Finest Hour,” gallery art, DVD-Rom scripts, Easter Eggs, 2 trading cards, and a bonus episode “Race From Mongo” from the 1986 Defenders of the Earth cartoon.

UPDATE: Although this is being marketed as “The Complete Series” it unfortunately does not enjoy the 1982 feature length challenging movie “Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All.” From what I have heard and read, this was a truly tale film that begins in Warsaw, Poland which is being annihilated by Hitler’s bombers. Flash’s dying friend leaves him with a message for Dr. Hans Zarkov: “Mongo”. Flash takes a plane where he meets Dale Arden. The plane is caught up a violent thunderstorm, which turns into a devastating meteor shower, crushing one of the plane’s engines. Flash and Dale bail out, but a meteor brushes their chute, sending the duo plummeting to the earth. A mysterious purple beam plucks them out of the stormy night and gently settles them onto the ground. They have to hurry for shelter and net Zarkov in his laboratory who rushes them into his rocketship, informing them that the meteors are no accident; it is in fact a strategic attack. As they spirit away in his rocketship, they are swept towards Mongo and adventure. Grand of the legend that begins in the first few epsiodes of the series has been dramatically altered so this is more of an alternate storyline which seems to more closely resemble the region from the 1980 live-action film. Apparently BCI does not hold the rights to “Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All” so that is why it is not included. Hopefully, someone will release it seperately soon but it determined would have been nice to have included it in this “Complete” situation.
Increase Credit Score
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit
Electronic Cigarette Review
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit

If you want to know why Marlon Brando inspired and influenced an entire generation of actors, notice On the Waterfront. His Terry Malloy is loyal down to his fingernails. Brando in his prime took and held the mask like no one else, absolutely magnetic, whether as a seeming uncaring pug with unawakened nobility in his heart (Terry) or a Mexican revolutionary (peep Viva Zapata) or a racist jet ace (Sayonara) or whatever.

Matching Brando is a perfect cast. Karl Malden, Eve Marie Saint, Rod Steiger, Lee J. Cobb, there isn’t a missed impress or lesser performance from any of them, not to mention the thugs and real-life dockworkers surrounding them. Elia Kazan was an actor’s director, and his skill at eliciting suitable performance is nowhere more evident than here. He also knew how to invent a movie, and his work with the camera and pacing is first rate. The B&W photography is gritty, pleasing and serves to locate the film in time and position while eliminating distraction from the performances.

You must know the chronicle by now, culled from the steady dockside union problems of the day, Budd Schulberg & Kazan fashioned a memoir that is about courage, loyalty (misplaced and otherwise), responsibilty and the willingness to stand up for something, stand alone if need be, and in that stance to risk the mistrust and misunderstanding and ostracism of your friends, your society, and the loss of your state in the world and even your life. They created a mighty melodrama of greed & corruption, of the struggle with compromise and conscience, of loss and redemption.

Buy,Download, Or Stream On the Waterfront! Click Here

Frankly, this is impartial substantial movie making. It isn’t done any better than this, and if for some reason you have never seen this film, treat yourself to excellence.

This is one of the best, don’t miss it, and don’t miss one of our greatest actors in his prime.

Columbia continues its downward spiral where its classic DVD output is concerned. “On The Waterfront” is not only a tall Academy Award winning film, it is an American icon. The state is concerned with a union stooge, Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) who eventually realizes that the intimidation racket of his boss, Johnny Advantageous (Lee J. Cobb) is an atrocious and destructive force in his community. Eva Marie Saint costars as Edie Doyle, the sister of a man who was thrown off of a rooftop on Excellent? s orders. It is partially through her fancy and the stoic commitment of Father Barry (Carl Malden) that Terry reforms his ways. Rod Steiger is particularly effective as Charley Malloy, Terry? s brother.

Quite simply: this transfer is a let down. Disagreement levels are extremely shameful, lovely details are lost in video noise reduction enhancement and digital grit, grain and noise are detected throughout. The gray scale is poorly balanced. Scratches, chips and distortions in the current camera negative stick out like a flit thumb. The audio is mono and undistinguished. It’s not a abominable mix, though there are moments where a puny background announce crops up. No extras! Oh, arrive on Columbia. This is one of your BEST PICTURES and it gets this kind of treatment on DVD?!? It? could’a been a contenda’!?
Electric Cigarette
Lumosity
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Working Hostgator Coupon
Gamefly Trial

My grandson and I are thrilled with the DVD Sheep on the Loose. At two yeals worn, he loves to view with a snack or lunch. The DVD has all the quality of the Pbs note, but allows for a more flexible schedule if we are busy outside or away. At night when his parents near home after a busy day, they can view one of the selections with him and we waste up enjoying and laughing all over again. Sometimes Papa comes home early to spy Jakers! As a retired schoolteacher, I bear the program and DVD are top-notch in quality and vow.
Increase Credit Score
Gamefly Trial
Wholesale Designer Handbags
Lumosity

This film shows Lillian Gish in one of her greatest roles, but is also worthy as an instance of one of the few readily available films in which she appears alongside her equally talented sister Dorothy. Dorothy was most well-known as a comedienne, but shows her ability here as a dramatic actress especially in the arrangement she portrays the horror and bewilderment of being alone, blind, in a hostile and irregular world. It is also lively to glimpse a very early appearance of Joseph Schildkraut, who would go on to come by an Oscar for his role in the Life of Emile Zola and mighty later would play Anne Frank’s father in the Diary of Anne Frank. The scope of the film is grand with lavish sets and costumes. This is grand for Griffith was in financial difficulties when the film was made, so mighty so that at times there were doubts as to whether he could enact it. Thankfully he did, for the film remains one of his best. The yarn is challenging and passionate with one of Griffith’s best run to the rescue climaxes. Granted it has some cliché’s which were accepted to this genre, such as an orphan with an identifying locket, but these cliché’s are no worse than those of Dickens and Oliver Twist. Indeed Griffith portrays the French revolution as well as any adaptation of A Sage of Two Cities. Where he goes astray somewhat is in his attempts to liken the French Revolution to events and persons with which American audiences might have been more familiar. It is ludicrous to call Danton a French Abraham Lincoln and his comparisons with Bolshevism and warnings against the `red menace’ advance across now as mildly silly. But these are really criticisms only of the titles which, as so often with Griffith, are sometimes overblown. This is a very pleasant DVD for it shows the film in the most complete and, as far as I am aware, the longest version available. There is however, one brief scene of Danton arguing with a court which seems to reveal itself. Whether this was Griffith’s device or a restoration mistake I cannot say. The print shows very dinky afflict and reproduces the film’s current tints. The music is fabulous especially in scenes of the riotous dancing of the crowds. It is possible to quibble with the expend of La Marseillaise, as this was written later than 1789, but this is a very minor point. To accomplish I would highly recommend this film as a astounding example of an historical memoir and as one of the most appealing tranquil films I have ever seen.

ORPHANS OF THE STORM is a sizable movie, and this time I’m not going to deduct a point for print quality and its non-sequiter of a sound track.

Trusty sisters Lillian and Dorothy Gish star as half-sisters Henriette and Louise Girard. Louise (Dorothy) was found on the frigid and snowy steps of the church Henriette’s father had, before a change of heart, placed her. Their parents die, the girls grow into porcelain beauties and Louise loses her ogle. Henriette vows to buy care of Louise forever, and they depart to Paris in hopes of restoring Louise’s stare.

En route a cruel aristocrat is excited with Henriette’s “virginal beauty” and connives to kidnap her. Henriette is indeed kidnapped shortly after her arrival in Paris, and the helpless Louise is forced to fend for herself.

Half of the fun of ORPHANS OF THE STORM is watching the indignities DW Griffith subjects his two starlets to. Henriette is kidnapped by one of the slimier specimens of the over-fed and over-sexed aristocracy. Her desperate search for Louise is frustrated at every turn- when she finally spots Louise and attempts to advance her the police reach and she is sent to a prison for fallen women. Oh, yeah, did I mention her delivery to “the foot of Death’s gate? “

Louise has it no better. She is kidnapped by the terrifying Mother Frochard (Lucille La Verne) . Mother Frochard, with her hair mole and moustache and missing teeth, may be the ugliest woman ever filmed. Mother F is a street beggar, and she plans to utilize the blind Louise as her main attraction. After she breaks Louise’s spirit, that is. So, down into the rat-infested cellar with Louise and up comes the ladder. They’re sincere rats down there. Griffith also throws a few chilly days of beggary and an attempted rape in Louise’s direction.

It’s all sizable fun and the girls are indomitably strong and resourceful. The print quality is quite apt in spots, simply abominable in others. Most of the stock is sepia-toned, but some battle scenes seem to have been tinted red and there’s a scene towards the slay of the movie that seems to have been colorized. Because this isn’t a restored print it’s impossible to protest.
Having watched a handful of soundless movies recently I’m beginning to wonder why they aren’t rescored. Alpha Video puts a classical recording on the track of their releases and calls it righteous. It’s not. These conventional films are works of art and national treasures, and they deserve better than this. Sound IS an well-known component to movies. Either restore the unique music or have a contemporary composer write a note modern rep. (Note: I watched the discount Alpha release of the film, and I didn’t realize that Kino has a pricier print that includes the modern music. I’m going out on a ledge here, but I’ll bet the print quality is better, too. I’ll be trading up to the Kino version in the come future.)
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Smokeless Cigarette
Raise My Credit Score
Buy Electric Cigarette
Wholesale Authentic Designer Handbags

Our legend takes spot in Fairytale Land, a kingdom populated by every fairytale character you’ve ever met. The balance between superb and cross is maintained by a wizard (George Carlin) who makes distinct that every yarn follows the book.

The time has near for Cinderella (Sarah Michelle Gellar) to have her fairytale ending. The Prince (named Humperdink. A nod to Princess Bride? Either draw, he’s voiced by Patrick Warburton) is hosting a ball on his twenty-first birthday. Cinderella is situation to go and topple in treasure, fair as the anecdote dictates.

This doesn’t sit well with Rick (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) . He’s a servant in the castle and has fallen for the comely Cinderella. Fighting a abominable case of prince envy, he wonders why he never gets a joyful ending.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Happily N’ever After! Click Here

While all this is happening, the wizard decides to go on vacation and he turns things over to his two assistants, Munk and Mambo (Wallace Shawn and Andy Dick) . Mambo wants to add a bit of variety to the stories while the wizard is away, and the two commence fighting.

Overhearing their fight is Frieda (Sigourney Weaver) . She’s Cinderella’s cross step mother. She seizes the golden opportunity to pick over the kingdom and tip the scales toward unfavorable. Now it’s up to Cinderella and a very reluctant Rick to return joyful endings to Fairytale Land.

I’m always up for a apt fractured fairytale, a genre that has become common since the success of Shrek. I was looking forward to this one, but it failed to live up to expectations.

The biggest dilemma with the movie is the lack of development. Everything felt rushed, like it knew what it had to do and wanted to score it over with as rapid as possible. The characters were also shallow, and I never felt like I got to know them, which made it hard to root for them.

There were a few comic lines in the movie, but most of it was played surprisingly straight. The Prince was the one exception, with a titanic running joke about consulting his book before everything.

This isn’t the detailed animation we are musty to. It’s stylized with lots of unique angels. It works, but considering what most studios are putting out, it is a bit surprising.

The pronounce cast does mountainous, with one exception. There was something about Sigourney Weaver’s exclaim that bothered me. It almost felt like she reading the script with. She showed hardly any personality.

Unlike many films that adults and kids can savor together, this one is strictly for the kids.

What I found involving about “Happily N’Ever After” was its willingness to turn classic fairy tales upside down. What if the princess doesn’t wind up with the blooming prince? What if Sleeping Beauty remains asleep after Prince Charming kisses her? What if Rupunzel’s golden hair caused more problems than it actually solves? We rarely discover this kind of intentional manipulation when it comes to fairy tales, and that made this film a lot more appetizing. It helps that it has a prominent sense of humor, making it delightfully light and airy. I was reminded of Disney’s “The Emperor’s Modern Groove” as I was watching “Happily N’Ever After”; both are films that depended on their heavy-handed jokiness in order to be spirited.

Fortunately, this arrangement worked in both cases. While this film isn’t exactly meaningful or relevant, it’s smooth tells a amusing, good-hearted sage. The jokes originate almost as soon as the film begins; an wicked woman waves a magic staff, shooting lightening into the air. Unbiased as the lightening forms the letters of the film’s title, the reel stops, exposing the celluloid’s square holes. That’s when the story’s narrator tells a joke, of which I only remember an announcement to go a vehicle with Narnia license plates. After that, the succor yarn is established: in Fairy Account Land, The Wizard (George Carlin) is in charge of maintaining the balance between pleasurable and rotten in all fairy tales. Basically, he makes definite that every epic ends the contrivance it’s supposed to waste, with the princesses getting saved by the princes and everyone living happily ever after.

The Wizard goes on vacation, leaving his assistants–Munk (Wallace Shawn) and Mambo (Andy Dick) –in charge of his control room located in the top tower of The Prince’s castle. I liked the layout: in the center rests a colossal crystal ball that acts like a television position (with a remote control, I might add) ; above it are the precious Good/Evil scales. Bored with the same, predictable fairy tales, Mambo finds the concept of tipping those scales increasingly appealing; he wants to perceive edgier fairy tales, ones that may be turned into something current. Munk, on the other hand, is actual and smart, and will not stand to have his dimwitted co-assistant kill everything for everyone.

Meanwhile, we’re introduced to the narrator: his name is Rick (Freddie Prinze Jr.), the lowly servant to the blooming but clueless Prince (Patrick Warburton), who obsessively reads a rulebook and follows its every belief. Rick’s working day is no picnic. He washes The Prince’s dishes. He shines The Prince’s boots. He even flosses The Prince’s teeth. Such dreadful daily routines have turned Rick a bit world weary; stories ending with a prince saving the day doesn’t necessarily get him the most profitable for the job. Rick may have a thing or two to offer a damsel, especially when it comes to the gorgeous Ella, nicknamed Cinderella (Sarah Michelle Gellar) . Unfortunately, Ella is too blindsided by her appreciate for The Prince to gawk Rick for who he really is.

As we all know, Cinderella lives the life of a slave in the home of her stepmother, Frieda (Sigourney Weaver), and her homely stepsisters. It’s announced that The Prince is throwing a ball, and every eligible maiden is required to serve. Being the injurious, irritable person she is, Frieda purposely overworks Ella, giving her no time to accept ready for the ball. But, lo and stare, the fairy godmother shows up, ready to support Ella out in her time of need (in this version, the fairy godmother is made to be a bit senile: “I’m here to grant your wish to become a valid boy,” she says when she first arrives, paving the scheme for a couple of other verbal goofs) . Once she arrives at the ball, she’s given the warning that the magic will only last until midnight.

Yes, we’ve definitely heard this tale before. But believe the moment when Frieda arrives at The Prince’s castle; she overhears Munk and Mambo’s shenanigans (highlighted by Mambo’s come disastrous encounter with the crystal ball) and decides to choose matters into her have hands. It now seems that every fairy yarn will have novel endings, ones that don’t ruin happily. This is because Frieda manages to bag The Wizard’s magical staff, giving her control over Fairy Legend Land (this is actually where the film began) . She then watches the stories unfold on the crystal ball, and when the endings arrive, she forcefully tips the Rotten scale. This is also done to Ella, who up until then had been having a wonderfully romantic evening with The Prince (the instant her ball gown transforms assist into humble peasant clothing, The Prince immediately believes that his maiden has hurry off) .

Thus begins fight to attach Fairy Sage Land from an eternity of dismal endings. But it won’t be easy: Frieda has called forth all the fairy memoir villains, including the Huge Terrible Wolf, Rumplestiltskin (who becomes her sidekick), the giant from “Jack and the Beanstalk,” witches, and goblins. Ella is convinced that The Prince is the only one who will be able to build the day; that is, after all, how it works in all fairy tales. But Rick knows better, especially when it comes to The Prince and his ridiculous sense of superiority. He decides to join Ella, Muck, and Mambo in their quest to do their world and defeat the dismal Frieda. If they rush, maybe happily ever after will once again be the norm for fairy tales.

Such a dwelling description must cement my claim that there’s nothing relevant about this film. “Happily N’Ever After” is an escapist film, presenting a myth that’s easily understood and free from depth or complexity. I’m not determined why I found such qualities enjoyable; I’m usually the first to condemn a film for being overly simplistic. Maybe I was taken by the over the top sense of humor, such as the reinterpretation of the Seven Dwarfs as militant survivalists. Maybe I recognized the inside joke of The Wizard’s passion for golf; George Carlin has been vocal in his hatred of that sport. Or maybe I was generally in a estimable mood. Nonetheless, I’ll recommend “Happily N’Ever After,” even if it’s only for the light subject matter.
Best Electronic Cigarettes
How To Raise Your Credit Score
Gamefly Trial
How To Increase Credit Score

I remember when I first saw the 1974 trouble fable “The Towering Inferno” as a child. The movie was playing exclusively at one of those ancient, gigantic theaters, complete with balcony and curtains which drew originate as the film began. The cover was vast. There was not an empty seat in the house. Moviegoers applauded as the opening chords of John Williams’ grand rep began thundering from the speakers during the opening credit sequence. And fans continued to applaud, most notably when Steven McQueen finally arrives on the scene, fire marshall red car skidding to a close, helmet in hand. This film, one of the greatest blockbusters in cinema history, was a legal event for 1970s audiences.

It has always been easy to dismiss this film, unprejudiced as most critics dismiss many of the celebrated concern films of this era (”Airport,” “Earthquake,” “The Poseidon Adventure”) . When watching “The Towering Inferno” today (this film must be seen in the letterbox format, if only to truly be pleased the amazing special effects), I feel a black twinge of nostalgia. Steve McQueen’s presence alone is worth the designate of admission, and this role would turn out to be one of his last in a major film. He steals fair about every scene he’s in, simply because of his fantastic shroud presence. A few wrinkles crease his weathered face, he’s kind of tubby, but even with middle age slowly approaching, McQueen’s spark is undeniable. “The Towering Inerno” is a gargantuan example as to why McQueen was one of our greatest movie stars.

Sure, the immense cast sleepwalks through most of this film in “I’m-just-collecting-a-paycheck” fashion, but has Paul Newman and Faye Dunaway ever been as aesthetic as they were in this flick? The Maureen McGovern song “We May Never Fancy Like This Again” (which won an Academy Award) is pure 70s schmaltz, the disco fashions relatively comical (gotta esteem Richard Chamberlain’s suit) and you even have Fred Astaire doing a bit of soft shoe with Jennifer Jones. I’m not going to mention O.J. Simpson’s role, simply because he’s contrivance too easy of a target these days.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Towering Inferno! Click Here

Through it all, “The Towering Inferno” does have an significant message, eventually becoming a tribute to the heroism of our nation’s firefighters. That’s generous. I also treasure one of Newman’s final lines in the film, in which he says they should honest leave the tower as is – “I believe they should fair leave it, kind of a monument to all the bull[stuff] in the world.” It’s also consuming to recognize two legends such as McQueen and Newman working together on cover. In fact, I can’t really acquire a single film in history in which two acting legends the set of McQueen/Newman starred in the same film together such as this. In today’s Hollywood, they really don’t build movie stars like this anymore. And they really don’t invent films like this anymore.

Going to the movie theater old-fashioned to be an event. Expansive screens, larger-than-life movie stars, movies playing at the same theater for months at a time. “The Towering Inferno” reminds me of that era, before cable TV, before video rental stores, before multiplex movie theaters. It’s corny, it’s comical, and it’s special effects-driven. But it’s a glamorous film, as musty as “Substantial Hotel,” and a testament to a bygone era in Hollywood.

Irwin Allen decided to follow up his “The Poseidon Adventure” success with the 1974 suspense-thriller “The Towering Inferno,” a movie which also garnered an impressive 10 Oscar nominations and is released as a 2-disc DVD special edition this week.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Towering Inferno! Click Here

Whereas in “The Poseidon Adventure” the leads had to move up, the only design is down for Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, William Holden, Fred Astaire, Richard Chamberlain, Robert Wagner and Faye Dunaway. Attending the opening night gala the guests are trapped on the 129th floor of the world’s tallest building which becomes an inferno thanks to the shoddy wiring system installed by chief builder James Duncan (Holden) and his electrician son Roger Simmons (Chamberlain) .

Newman plays Doug Roberts, the proud architect leisurely the Glass Tower, a skyscraper, which dominates the San Francisco skyline at a height of 138-story’s. Returning from a long vacation Roberts immediately recognizes that something is snide and he is proven factual when a circuit breaker burns out and ignites garbage on a lower floor.

While the script can be a tad melodramatic at times, the trouble set into this movie is definite. Nominated for Best Report and winning for best cinematography, best special effects and best song, the movie was a wreck hit and peaceful holds up well today in this age of blockbuster special effects extravaganza’s.

As with “The Poseidon Adventure” the previous DVD release was sorely lacking in special features and has been replaced with three hours of extras. Joining the nine all-new featurettes which includes a retrospective, a seek at the special effects and the art invent is the AMC Backstory on the making of the movie, 32 deleted or extended scenes and an audio commentary by film historian F.X.
Feeney’s commentary is bewitching and comprehensive, covering all aspects of the production from the writing and dialogue all the draw through to the sets and the sense of anticipation director John Guillerman builds up from the commence. Feeney tells us that this movie was a milestone for Hollywood in that it was the first time two studios had co-produced a feature. Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox owned two separate books, “The Tower” by Richard Martin Stern and “The Glass Inferno” by Thomas N. Scortia and Frank M. Robinson, and both planned to produce two competing movies on the same subject.

It was Allen who stepped in and proposed the historic deal and the two studios agreed, splitting first the cost and then the profit equally.

Though not for the beefy length of the feature special effects director Mike Venzina and stunt coordinator Branko Racki both individually comment on individual scenes. Verzina discusses eight scenes and Racki talks about nine separate scenes. Their observations are largely technical in nature and center on their selective specialties.

The longest of the documentaries is once again the AMC Backstory which runs 22:08. It is in this featurette that we learn that the model musty for shots of the tower was itself seven stories high, that William Holden became aggravated with Faye Dunaway’s tardy-ness to the location and that despite the media attempting to record conflict between the two stars Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, the two actually got along well together with a mutual respect and sterling competition (as evidenced by a laughable blooper) .

The other featurettes range from 4:28 in length (on the directing of the movie) to 9:15 on the writer Stirling Silliphant. But they camouflage a wide range of topics from a retrospective by the cast and crew “Inside the Tower: We Remember” (8:16) in which Richard Chamberlain likens the state to being at a really glamorous Hollywood party day after day with the standard six star dressing rooms being increased to 15 to the architecture of the tower in “Level-headed the World’s Tallest Tower” (8:28) which compares The Glass Tower to other real-life skyscrapers and the impact these high-rise buildings have on the surrounding communities.

Other topics touched on include the safety aspects employed on the production in “Putting out fire” (4:58) in which Allen comments “You’d better have all the camera’s rolling because fire waits for no man,” and also reveals that firemen were on the region each day to “Running on fire” (5:52) which discusses the work of the stuntmen and includes the facts McQueen did not like anyone else doing his stunts and even Newman and Chamberlain did a number of their beget stunts.

Also on this special collector’s edition are 32 deleted or extended scenes that range from the 40-second “Calm Waiting for the Elevator” which featuresshots of crowds of people pushing and shoving each other at the elevator and Holden’s character assessing the location on the telephone to the 2:55 clip “Four Scare Fire” which covers the spreading of the fire through the building, the call from security requesting a four-alarm fire and shots of fire engines screaming through the streets of San Francisco.

All of the deleted or extended scenes were originally section of a longer television broadcast. Unfortunately their condition has deteriorated and they were deemed of too unpleasant quality for Fox to include them through the accepted DVD technique of seamless branching alongside the theatrical cleave on the first disc.

Rounding out the special features on this release are three 1975 articles from “American Cinematographer” which speed for a combined 83 pages and which, like those on “The Poseidon Adventure” DVD release, include selectable images which lift the viewer to image galleries. These articles are all technical in nature and include discussion on how the movie was photographed and the work of the action unit. There are also six storyboard comparisons and five image galleries that range from shot compositions and costumes through to publicity and conceptual sketches.
Electric Cigarette
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit
Wholesale Authentic Designer Handbags
Smokeless Cigarettes

The item you are viewing is the second in a series of 5 Twilight Zone DVD collections, each containing 9 volumes of 4 episodes each. ….

Not terrible, eh? The only dissimilarity between the box area DVDs and the individual ones are the cases. They are better, in my notion, because they are more compact and yet aren’t those [inexpensive] cardboard things. You also derive a nice box to house them in.

Onto the assure. If you’re a fan of only some of the episodes — the most common ones that people always talk about, chances are you should capture Collection 1 first (contains “To Abet Man”, “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet”, etc.) . But there are definitely some classics contained in Collection 2. Among the 36 episodes (Volumes 10-18 of the individual DVDs) are:

–The After Hours: Anne Francis visits a department store’s mysterious 9th floor. Didn’t that mannequin objective sell her a thimble?

–Living Doll: If you remember the TZ and don’t remember “Talky Tina”, there’s something seriously scandalous with you!

–The Primitive Man: Has Burgess Meredith become archaic?? This one has landed in the Fans’ Top 15 Episodes.

–The Midnight Sun: The sun is inching closer and closer to Earth. That can only mean one thing… It’s hot!

–A Hundred Yards Over the Rim: A man traveling with a wagon trains crosses over a rim in the Nevada desert in search of water, game and contrivance to heal his son… but winds up in the Twilight Zone!

Complete Listing: A Hundred Yards Over the Rim, Once Upon a Time, The Last Flight, The Pain With Templeton, Living Doll, The After Hours, The Dummy, The Fever, Mr. Denton on Doomsday, The Lateness of the Hour, The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine, The Trade-Ins, A Quality of Mercy, Judgment Night, The Musty Man, The Purple Testament, In Praise of Pip, One For the Angels, The Arrival, The Man in the Bottle, A Kind of a Stopwatch, Speed Clause, Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room, The Midnight Sun, And When the Sky Was Opened, In His Image (Hour-Long Prove), The Last Night of a Jockey, The Mirror, The Faded Man in the Cave, What You Need, What’s in the Box, Death Ship (Hour-Long Note), I Shot an Arrow Into the Air, Unruffled Valley

Why does Amazon charge $89 for a boxed region of 9 discs each worth $5? It should at least wreck even and be $45. I have found a Twilight Zone collection of 9 disks mark modern somewhere else for $35. Approach on Amazon, I know you can do better than this.
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Wholesale Designer Handbags
Hostgator Coupons
Raise My Credit Score
Gamefly Trial
