what is a musical similar to Seven brides for seven brothers?

That really depends on what similarities you might be refering to? Music? character? stagecraft? Casting? Theme?
One thing that sets Seven Brides apart (one of my mother’s favorite shows, by the way) is that there is no mistaking the men in the cast as anything but masculine men. In an industry where maybe 95 percent of the male dancers are gay and many if not most are rather, well, stereotypical …. this is a show where the brothers have to look like they would rather be with women. That is the point of the show, after all.

This isn’t so tough to cast professionally, given the thousands of out-of-work guys waiting tables hoping for a shot, but seven men that can sing and dance and be … welll … manly, is a lot to ask for any small theater … hey … just saying ….

That said, for these reasons I kind of compare the show to Guys and Dolls which similarly features a strong cast of guys who have to look like rough and tough gamblers while they’re singing and dancing and shooting craps in a sewer, and like Seven Brides, features a very strong girl’s chorus whose members all have to be good (and shapely) dancers.

Some would say West Side Story because of the gangs, but there really is little else in common between the two with WEst Side’s heavy Romeo and Juliet dramatics.

Oklahoma! comes to mind as does Annie Get Your Gun for their western-style themes and comedy.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat similarly has a strong male cast, and it can be staged with a girl’s chorus, but its Bible-based theme and gamut of raggae-to-pop score seems quite a departure from Seven Brides’ structure.

Hope these comparisons help get you where you want to go.

Oliver Platt played Randy
and William Baldwin played Joe.

Have you ever had a near-death experience?

Does your religion, or in other case, lack thereof, play a part in your beliefs?

For me?
I’m Wiccan, no I’ve never had a NDE, and yes it would play a part in it if I ever had one.

Finally: Would you want to come back, and why?
Or if you’ve had one, what made you decide to come back?

Cast: Can’t remake perfection, but here goes: Nelson: Emilio Estevez

Rachel: Jessica Alba

Randy: Seth Rogan ( Yes,i do believe he has the chops to play a serious role)

David: Ashton Kutcher

Joe: Freddy Prinze Jr.

What are your thoughts on this?

I have had a NDE twice.

Once in 1976, I woke up in a sweat, I had seen a car crash, the people standing around and the guys picking up a body and putting it onto a cart to transport with a sheet over it. I saw a hand fall out from under the sheet, it was my class ring! That was when I woke up. I had been in a coma for 37 days. I had wrapped a corvette around two twin telephone poles on the side of a off ramp about 12 feet in the air.

A women had stopped to change a flat on the off ramp. As I came up over the hill I saw to little kids standing in the back seat of the car.

the rest was history. I saw the papers, they thought I was dead when they got to me. I had been ejected between the two poles and landed in a plowed field. I saw my car being towed away on a trailer, the motor trans and trans-axle on a hook. I had seen it all from above the the accident, and it had all happened as I saw it in my dream before I woke up.

the second time was in 1994. I was sleeping in the sleeper of a semi that was in a accident. I remember stopping the truck on the side of a road, walking down to a river and talking to a man I knew from my past. Jack had been dead for 20 year or so. We talked and then he told me my dad was just over the other side of those trees. I went over and talked with my Dad. He had been dead for 2 years then. Next I ran into my Grandfather how came up and handed me a pole and ask if I was going to stay and fish or go on back up the hill side to the road and not make this trip today.

I walked toward the lite. I ws on the opt. table under the bright lites and I woke up! they pumped me full of something fast and I was out. I woke up about 4 hours later. I had lived through the crash, but the guy I was with didn’t. I had taken a pcs. of steel re-bar through my body and lung and had to be cut out of the sleeper. I don’t remember any of the accident to this day. I don’t remember any pain in the operating room. I do remember the only time I have seen my Family together dead like it was real.

As for the movie, flat liner, I wouldn’t remake it yet. It is still on my shelf and I love it just the way it was made.

 John M | Sep 16, 2009

You’ve made some good casting choices, but one sticks out as being a bit wrong. Emilio Estevez is over 45 compared to most of the others being a bit younger. Even Freddy Prinze Jr. (30) and Ashton Kutcher (28) are a bit too old for these roles.

You need to cast people who are younger than 25, because that is the age of a medical student. You want people to believe these people are students, of course. Since movies take a few years to actually get into production, you might want to think of people who are in their early 20’s at this particular time.

You have to remember that the original cast was originally part of the Brat Pack, meaning they had all had a famous role or two. I’m guessing you could cast Shia Leboeuf as one of those people who are students, mainly because he’s still under 25 at this time.

And although she may be great looking, Jessica Alba just doesn’t seem to have what it takes to be in medical school. Maybe Modeling school, but not medical school!
rickdvd2007 | Sep 15, 2009

I think I would look at the following actors/actresses:

Mark Walberg-David
AShton-Nelson
Kristen Stewart-Rachel
Steve Zahn-Randy
Seth Green or Matthew Lillard as Joe

Which of these styles do you like best for a wedding dress for a full figured bride?
Normally I would never open up this kind of question to YA but I have a short list I’ve been looking at for 14 days and have not narrowed down further.

Ok the essential deets.

My current stats are 40 – 35 – 41 and aiming to tone and tighten and drop maybe drop one or two dress size before the day in early May.

I have a fitness regime in place that incorporates 30- 45 mins cardio at the gym 3X per week and yoga or pilates 2X per week and instead of hopping on public transport I’ll be walking to most places. I live, work, play and do most things within a 30 minute walking radius of my home.

Rather than consciously restrict my diet I’ve added a large salad to every main meal and 2 snacks of whole fruit or cut up veggies, and a mid afternoon snack of tinned tuna or salmon, or low fat cheese and crackers, or cottage cheese and fruit, or a boiled egg with veggies. Meaning I’m already too full to mindlessly grab a chocolate bar, doughnut, chips and cans of pop. And lots of hot or cold water with lemon or cucumber slices in it throughout the day.

So the weight loss goal is very feasible not a pie in the sky fantasy.

The wedding itself will be a relatively small affair with a guest list and wedding party of 24 max in total on a Saturday in the late morning. Held in a small wedding chapel with an incredibly gorgeous view of the city, a large park and a back drop of the mountains and will be followed by a sit down lunch with champagne will be held in the same location. A much larger celebration will be held later in the summer.

Will be looking to get the dress custom made to ensure fit but would appreciate some feedback on the styles below and am open to suggestions for different styles.

So far have looked at and like:

This one would be all white but with the belt and trimmings in dark grey, black or blue

 It’s really hard to say.

All plus-sized women are not created equal. I’ve seen some larger women who look beautiful in sheath-style (clingy and slinky) gowns, whereas other plus-sized women … even the same street size … look awful.

You really need to try things on and see what looks best on your body.

Can I get into Boston University?
I’m wondering if getting into Boston University would be a long shot for me, considering my gpa and my semester grades so far.

I’ve got a 3.4 gpa as of now, and i’m a junior

I’m taking 2 AP classes, AP u.s. history and AP psychology along with other honors classes, but my grades have been slipping a little bit, my semester averages for my classes are a little low (I’ve got C+ for 3 of them, and Bs and As for the rest). I’ve got another semester this year, and then senior year to make up for it though.

On my most recent SAT i got a 2350, and on the ACT i got a 28.

I’m in national honors society, and spanish honors society.

I’m in two charity clubs: key club and interact club, and I also volunteer at my local hospital.

I’m president of the youth group councel at my church.

I’m on the varsity team for track and field at my school, and in my freshman and sophomore year I’ve also played volleyball.

I work at Polo Ralph Lauren in the mall.

Again, I’m hoping to balance out my gpa by improving my grades, so I’ll have at least a 3.5~3.6 by the end of my senior year. I’m wondering if they’ll consider my course load while looking at my first semester grades this year.

My classes are as follows.

Honors English 11
Spanish 4
AP U.S. History
Chemistry
Pre Calculus
AP Psychology
Semeter1: Creative Writing
Semester 2: Philosophy

Im interested in becoming a doctor, and the corresponding classes for that have been going well for me until this year, now that my semester average for pre cal is a 78%, which is my lowest average, and my semester average for chem is a 79%. However, my grades in bio have been straight As.

If i bring my semster averages up, would I have a chance of getting in?
